Team Reptiles’s Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a fantastic game that gives the player a lot of customization freedom ranging from what type of graffiti they tag the city with to what costume their character wears. One bit of freedom that most players likely missed though was the myriad of hidden unlockable characters.
Scattered throughout the world of New Amsterdam are many aspiring writers and teens who want to make their mark in the world. You just need to complete a few sidequests to get them to join your crew. Some of these characters can be found at any time while others will not appear until the post-game.
The character in this guide, officer Rietveld, is encountered several times throughout the game as an antagonistic force and recurring boss as she tries to arrest the Bomb Rush crew. Despite this though she can actually be unlocked as a playable character in the post-game.
To unlock Rietveld the player must make their way to the upper areas of Versum Hill, where they had previously fought against Rietveld in the game’s first chapter. If you have forgotten where this location is, it was also the area where you challenge the Franks to a crew battle.
Upon reaching this location you will be greeted with a cutscene showing Rietveld being attacked by her fellow police officers, she will ask the player for assistance and a long battle will begin. This is easily the largest and most difficult fight against police in the game as you will be facing a tank walker, an attack helicopter, snipers, and waves upon waves of normal police officers.

After defeating all of the police officers you will learn more about Rietveld as a character and how she wanted to reform the police. Her experiences during the plot of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and this side quest however have educated her on how that is an impossible task and she asks to join your crew.
After unlocking her the player can select to play as Rietveld by dancing at any Cypher Pad in the game. Her default playstyle is the skateboard, just like the game’s protagonist Red. If you do not like the skateboard though you can change her playstyle at any time by going to your Hideout.
