Bomb Rush Cyberfunk: How to Unlock Coil

Team Reptiles’s Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a fantastic game that gives the player a lot of customization freedom ranging from what type of graffiti they tag the city with to what costume their character wears. One bit of freedom that most players likely missed though was the myriad of hidden unlockable characters.

Scattered throughout the world of New Amsterdam are many aspiring writers and teens who want to make their mark in the world. You just need to complete a few sidequests to get them to join your crew. Some of these characters can be found at any time while others will not appear until the post-game.

The character in this guide, Coil, can be found dancing alone in a secluded area of Mataan during the post-game. Because this is easily the largest area of the game, it can be difficult to find him if you don’t have any idea where he is. Thankfully his location is very close to the taxi station in Mataan, so fast travel to it then turn around to see the construction sight where he is located.

Upon speaking with Coil, he will request that players imitate the dance he is doing. This dance move is the Housedance that the player obtained upon completion of the game’s second chapter. After dancing with him, Coil will compliment you before moving locations.

After a short amount of time the player will receive a text from Coil telling them that he has moved to the island in the center of the Mataan River. Getting to this island is one of the hardest tasks in the game as it requires the player to do a trick that they have never needed to do before this point. By one of the bridges near the island, you can find a small red pillar in a building surrounded by glass that you can break. If a skateboarding character jumps onto this small pillar and begins to perform tricks, this pillar turns into a makeshift elevator and leads players to a set of grind rails that leads them toward the island.

Once you reach Coil on the island, he will challenge the player to get from one bridge on the Mataan River to the other within a single combo. Because the player has spent the entire game keeping large combos going, this is a very simple task.

After completing this combo challenge, Coil will once again move locations and text the player that he can now be found in the Toy Toy Town area of Mataan. This is the part of Mataan where the player had previously encountered the final boss. He can be found on the roof of a building just before the elephant head grind rails. When talking to the player here he will challenge them to a race. This is easily one of the most difficult races in the game as it requires players to jump across several grind rails and billboards over a large bottomless pit.

If the player can successfully tag the graffiti spot at the end though, Coil will be extremely impressed and ask to join the Bomb Rush Crew. The player will then be able to select him as a playable character at any Cypher Pad. His default playstyle is the bicycle, but the player can change this at any time by visiting their Hideout
