404 Game Re:Set Announces Street Fighter 2 Event

On July 28th 2023, Sega hosted a live streaming event on their official YouTube channel to update players on the future 9f their current gacha game 404 Game Re:Set, a game about anime girl versions of arcade games that fight against the dictatorship of Sega. During the show, the publisher announced laid out their August plans for the game. Beginning with the announcement that the seventh main story chapter would release during the month of August. It was also announced that in an upcoming patch the game’s lvl cap would be raised from lvl 89 to lvl 92.

After these quality of life announcements the next collaboration event was revealed to be a Street Fighter II event which would be adding both the morally good Anode and morally dubious Cathode version of the character to the game.

The Anode version of Street Fighter II be added to the gacha as a three star character with her own rate up banner. During the event players will recieve summon tickets which can be used only on her banner to give them a chance of receiving her. She is a yellow color Attacker-type unit whose Burst Skill will allow her to counter incoming attacks.

The Cathode version of Street Fighter II is a magenta colored Attacker-type unit whose Burst Skill will guarantee her a critical hit and will decrease opponent’s Burst Gauge. In addition to this, she cannot be stunned and is immune to ATK Down debuffs. She will be added to the game’s gacha as a three star rarity character on July 31st.

Cathode Street Fighter II will feature as the antagonist of the upcoming event with a boss fight that will include a remix of a classic Street Fighter II track.

In addition to these new playable characters (referred to in-game as a cast), two new figurines will be added to game’s gacha. These figurines will be of the character’s Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter. Equipping them to your characters will offer various stat and skill bonuses.

The Street Fighter II collaboration event will begin on July 31st after maintenance. Once the maintenance has completed, all players will receive a free 1,500 gacha gems.


Other August Casts


During the Stream, Sega showed off some of the other Casts that would be added to the game from mid to late August. Beginning with showing off the art for Virtua Cop, a game that was confirmed to be featured in 404 Game Re:Set upon the initial reveal but had been absent until now. Currently there are no details about what type of unit Virtua Cop is or her Burst Skill

It was also confirmed that the classic Sega arcade game Zaxxon would be receiving a character in 404 Game Re:Set this August, similar to Virtua Cop only her art was shown off during the Stream

Virtua Fighter Event Rerun




During the stream it was announced that the Virtua Fighter event from May of 2023 would be getting a Re-run on August 15th after the Street Fighter II event ends. This re-run will give players a second chance to obtain the Cathode version of Virtua Fighter as a welfare and will also contain a re-run of the gacha banner for her Anode form.



OTHER UPDATES

Sega announced several other future quality of life updates during the stream for the 404 Game Re:Set. Coming in the future they will implement:

  • Equipped accessories locking and the ability to lvl accessories 10 lvls at a time.
  • Decreasing downtime in CEO arena mode and an increase to the ranking trade cap in this mode.
  • A new battle mode setting where you will be able to see all five of your units at once, a long requested feature.

Music Availability


During a previous livestream Sega revealed that the soundtrack of 404 Game Re:Set will be coming to platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify. Allowing players to experience these amazing arcade soundtrack remixes without having to boot up the game. During today’s livestream the release date for this music was announced to be August 7th.

2 Million Downloads Campaign




To close off the stream it was announced that the game had recieved 2 Million downloads since its launch in April of this year. To celebrate this milestone a summer campaign will be held in August which will feature:

  • Daily missions will give 1.5x more energy
  • All quests will give more exp
  • Sub quests will drop more items
  • Daily free gacha pulls which will add up to a total of 404 free pulls
  • Reruns of previous banners such as Anode Xevious

ABOUT 404 GAME RE:SET


404 Game Re:Set was initially announced on February 10th of 2023. The game’s premise involves Sega taking over the world via the power of Casts, personified versions of classic arcade games. The game sees players taking control of the good personification of arcade games (known as Anodes) as well as the evil personification of arcade games (known as Cathodes)

The game officially launched on April 25th of 2023 with the first five chapters being immediately available.

On April 27th 2023 Sega announced that the game’s first event, focused on Virtua Fighter, would begin on April 28th

On May 8th, 2023, Sega publicly announced that the game received over 1.5 million downloads

On May 10th the game added the Development Team Colosseum for players to fight raid bosses together as well as introduced Darius (Anode)

On May 31st the game began its first collaboration event with the game company SNK, adding Fatal Fury to the game

On June 1st, the game began a month long campaign to celebrate Sega’s 63rd anniversary

On June 28th the game had a livestream to reveal its Daytona USA x Ridge Racer event as well as reveal its PC Port

On July 22, the game was released on PC and the Cathode version of Bandai Bamco’s Mappy was added to the game
