Hello and welcome to yet another article in my series on The Story Arc: Make a Musou. I love Dynasty Warriors, the number of times I bring it up, and the multiple Musou related articles I’ve written should be proof enough of that. However, I am currently in a Dynasty Warriors drought as I have no interest in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, so I thought it was time to flex some creative writing.
But what could I do? When it comes to Dynasty Warriors content you can find whatever you want online already. For the past twenty years, the internet has been filled with character analyses, essays on the storytelling, and gameplay deconstructions. I don’t have much to add when talking about Dynasty Warriors itself. However, there is one question that everyone has had at one point in time: “What if ___ was a Musou game?”
That’s right, it’s time to pretend we’ve gone back to the Tumblr days when imagining your ideal game and talking to people about it wasn’t cringe! I have asked my friends to give me a list of franchises, and I will make a Musou roster out of each and every one of them. Last time I made a Musou roster out of Avatar the Last Airbender. This time though we’re going to be casting a much bigger as we cover one of the most popular superheroes of all time
This week on The Story Arc, we shall be making a Musou roster out of Marvel’s Spider-Man! In preparation for writing this article I decided I would become a complete expert on Spider-Man and read every single comic he has ever appeared in. This was 100% an unnecessary undertaking as that was over 4,000 comics but in doing so I feel I was able to make this roster the best I could!
How we’ll be designing the movesets!
Now, we must discuss how Musou Movesets typically work if we are going to create a wide variety of them. If you have already read my pieces on making a Batman Musou, Pokemon Musou, or Sakura Wars Musou, you may skip ahead to when we start talking about how many characters our roster will have. First, let’s go over the basics of each character’s normal attacks. You all likely know how Musou movesets work on a basic level; you string together combos consisting of light attacks and heavy attacks. However, there is a pattern that movesets typically follow that I feel need some explaining.
Pressing light attacks once and then heavy will knock enemies directly in front of you in the air, allowing for a juggle or for you yourself to transition into an attempted combo.
Pressing light attack two times and then a heavy will perform an attack that while not super powerful will hit enemies close to you, generally on your left and right.
Pressing light attacks three times and then heavy will perform an attack that, while not your strongest, will hit a wide range of enemies.
Pressing light attack four times and then a heavy will perform an attack that is either straightforward or will move you slightly forward
Finally, pressing light attack five times, and then triangle will perform an attack that does plenty of damage in a short range, the perfect attack for enemy officers.
These are the foundations of a basic Musou moveset; however, there is more to explain and think of for our roster.
The bar you have been seeing below or next to the health bars in this footage is the Musou gauge. Once it is full, you are able to unleash your most powerful attack: a Musou attack. So we’ll need to think of a Musou for everyone.
Finally, we’re going to incorporate something that main modern Musous and Musou clones have, skill attacks. Holding down a button will give you an option of activating a skill. Most of these are just buffs like increased attack or speed; however, many Musous gives characters extra moves via skills. As we want to make this hypothetical game seem as appealing as possible, we shall come up with 3 skill attacks for each character.
And that’s everything! 5 Normal combos, a musou attack, and 3 skill attacks for each character. As we go into this, I won’t describe what each and every character’s individual combos will be but rather just how we imagine them playing with a few combo examples. I will mostly focus on describing every Musou, unique, and skill attack we come up with. A fair warning as well that I won’t talk about some characters as much as others, thinking of a variety of different movesets is difficult
With everything about how we will go about this explained, let’s move on.
Our Roster Size
Before we get into picking our characters, we first need to figure out how big the roster could be. While a true dream would be everyone playable, we’re going to have to be realistic with this. Other licensed Musous started with rosters of these sizes
Berserk Musou – 8 characters
Arslan Musou – 16 characters
Dragon Quest Musou – 13 characters + 1 DLC
Touken Ranbu Musou – 15 characters
One Piece Pirate Warriors – 15 characters
Under normal circumstances I would make a roster of exactly 18 characters, but as I said before I just spent a large portion of 2022 reading every Spider-Man comic ever in a very unnecessary research phase! So while my starting roster will be 18 characters who should be in the game, I will continue a fair bit longer than that for reasons you shall see later on.
Character 1: Peter Parker (Spider-Man)

Up first on the roster we’ve got the man, the myth, the legend himself: The Amazing Spider-Man! What can possibly be said about Peter Parker that hasn’t been said already? He is the defining Super-Hero for several generations of children and adults! He has been the star of more good storylines than you can possibly name!
And of course it goes without even saying that if we’re making a Spider-Man Musou roster the man himself will be playable. The real question comes when you ask yourself “How should he play?”.
Obviously he needs to be the most basic character on the roster, he will be the first person people play as so his starting attack and speed would need to be completely average, but what do we do about his attacks?
Over the past 60 years Spider-Man has used a wide variety of both gadgets and various web techniques, listing them off would take ages but I’m actually going to use none of them.
See, Peter is not going to be the only Spider-person on our roster so if I just loaded his moveset up with everything a Spider can do everyone else would be lacking. So we’re going to take the typical movie approach and be completely basic with what Spider-Man can do.
For Peter’s light attack he’ll let out some basic punches and kicks (Expect me to say that a lot for the various Spider-People) while his heavy combo will have him shooting webs out at enemies to damage them in various ways. With all of that finally out of the way let’s finally get into Peter’s moveset!
For his first heavy combo Peter will uppercut enemies in front of him into the air, if the player were to press the heavy combo again he will launch another web up at them to pull the crowd down into the ground
Peter’s second heavy combo will have him aim his arms to his sides and web at enemies in those directions, if he happens to hit two groups of enemies he will pull on the webs and slam them together.
As a third heavy combo Peter will launch a web into the ground and pull up a boulder which he will then proceed to spin around him in an arc, damaging a wide range of enemies before he throws the boulder away.
Then for his fourth heavy combo Peter will jump into the air and kick forward while swinging on a web. It may be next to impossible to incorporate web swinging into a Musou game but I can at least make it an attack.
Finally for his fifth heavy combo Peter will launch a web forward at a single enemy and pull himself toward them for a large punch! This would deal massive damage to the enemy he hits while also creating a shockwave to harm enemies near them.
Peter’s musou attack will have him jump into the air and begin to shoot webs in various directions, creating a huge web which he will then pull upward to trap enemies in a net!
For Peter’s three attack skills we’re actually going to take influence from another popular video game series he has appeared in frequently: Marvel vs Capcom! Yes, we’re going to take three of his attacks from there and rework them so they can work in a Musou game
Let’s start off with the easiest one to work into a Musou game: Web Ball! When activating this attack Peter will shoot a large ball of webs forward at enemies, dealing heavy damage.
The second attack skill of Peter’s moveset will have him perform the Spider-Sting and uppercut enemies in front of him into the air before spiking them back down to the ground with another punch.
For his third and final attack skill Peter will jump into the air and launch a large web at enemies to grab them. He will then proceed to pull them into the air and slam them down into the ground!
And there we go! A complete moveset for how Peter Parker would play in a Musou game and it only took us about 2,000 words! With our first of many characters done, let’s move on to the second hero in our roster!
Character 2: Miles Morales (Spider-Man)

Next up on the roster we’ve got our beloved second Spider-Man: Miles Morales! While there have been many many alternative Spider-Men over the years Miles is the only one to really stick and both became popular enough to stand alongside Peter in most media but also got to star in his own theatrical movie! If there was ever a Spider-Man Musou made Miles would 100% be on the roster.
As for how he would play, making Miles Morales play differently from Peter Parker is much easier than you may think. While they both may be Spider-Men, Miles has some unique gimmicks of his own such as his electric venom blasts! (Okay, Jessica Drew has these as well but shut up, nerd).
For Miles’ light attacks we’ll have him perform some basic punches and kicks like Peter while his heavy combos will feature a combination of typical Spider-Man stuff along with his venom blasts. It’s very important that we hit a balance between those two things as we need Miles to come across as a Spider-Man who also has an extra power as opposed to a gimmick in a Spider-Man suit.
As a first heavy combo, Miles will jump into the air and use his webs to pull up enemies in front of him, before quickly spiking them back to the ground.
The second heavy combo of Miles’ moveset will have him extend his arms to his sides and perform two simultaneous venom blasts, knocking away nearby enemies.
For his third heavy combo, Miles will use a venom blast to jump into the air, launching him upward while also leaving some electric residue on the ground that will damage surrounding enemies.
Then as a fourth heavy combo, Miles will shoot a line forward at enemies and then propel himself toward them, finishing the attack off with a brutal punch.
Miles’ fifth heavy combo will have him charge into a group of enemies with a venom blast charged up before discharging it, causing a large electric shock to heavily damage enemies.
For his Musou attack Miles’ will stand still for a second as he builds up electricity before unleashing a large venom overcharge on all surrounding enemies.
When thinking up Miles’ attack skills I decided I didn’t want to use all the gadgets from the Miles Morales video game but there was one I do want to use: the Gravity Well. When activating the attack Miles will throw forward this device that will pull in all nearby enemies before he charges in and punches them with a venom strike
For his second heavy combo Miles will turn invisible to both the player and enemies before seemingly appearing again having seemingly teleported a short distance forward, kicking enemies as he reappears.
Finally, as a third attack skill Miles will once again turn invisible and seemingly teleport, but this time he’ll appear above enemies before grabbing them with webs to capture them in a web cocoon.
And we’re done with Miles Morales’ moveset! I love Miles Morales and am very glad he has become a mainstream character. Speaking of mainstream characters, let’s move on to the third Spider-Person in our roster!
Character 3: Gwen Stacy (Ghost-Spider)

Third on the roster we’ve got the fantastic Spider-Gwen, or Spider-Woman, or Ghost-Spider. Whichever name you use for her you cannot deny that Gwen’s popularity has exploded over the past few years, making her a mainstream character who is expected to pop up whenever a new Spider-Man thing is created. As such, there is no reason for us not to put her in this roster!
When it comes to constructing a moveset for Gwen we quickly run into a problem. I put four Spider-People with very similar powers on this roster and need to think of some way to make them all have different attacks. While there is an easy way we could make Gwen stand out by taking advantage of her symbiote, that just feels wrong because it would make her attacks come across as more evil than they should. As such we’ll limit her symbiote powers to her attack skill and Musou while her normal moveset will be the typical Spider-Person affair.
For her first heavy combo, Gwen will slide under enemies before kicking them into the air, proceeding to then jump into the air with them with her webs for another attack.
Gwen’s second heavy combo will have her web forward while punching diagonally to her right and then proceeding to do the same thing but to her left.
Then as a third heavy combo Gwen will run around in a large circle, firing web balls at enemies as she does to damage them.
As a fourth heavy combo Gwen will launch a web line at a group of enemies and pull them toward her as she unleashes a kick to their faces.
Finally, for her fifth heavy combo Gwen will web herself toward a group of enemies before performing a flip attack where she kicks them.
Like I said in her intro, Ghost-Spider is one of few Spider-People to peacefully bond with her symbiote. As such we’re going to focus her musou attack and attack skills around having her Venom attack enemies. To start off, when activating her Musou attack Gwen will pull out her MP3 player and begin to blast some rock music as Venom extends from her suit and attacks enemies all around her with goo-like symbiote tentacles.
For her first attack skill Gwen’s hood will turn black and extend forward to bite down on enemies, dealing heavy damage.
As a second attack skill a large symbiote tongue will grow from Gwen’s suit to grab at an enemy and toss them away into another crowd of enemies.
The third and final attack skill of Gwen’s moveset will have her unleash dozens of small, black spiders from her symbiote onto all surrounding enemies, damaging any they crawl on.
Now we’re finished with Spider-Gwen’s moveset! I’m going to be completely honest it’s already getting hard to make all of these Spider-People stand out from each other moveset wise so let’s just add one more before we begin to add some villains!
Character 4: Silk

Next up we’ve got the one hero on this roster that you could probably argue shouldn’t be on it: Silk! Silk is nowhere near as mainstream as the first three characters we put on this roster but I’m putting her on here because she’s a personal favorite of mine and although she doesn’t appear all the time in the comics she is around enough to be considered a mainstay character at this point.
Now that I have hopefully justified my reasoning for putting her on here, let’s go into how Silk will play! Like the other Spider-People so far Silk’s basic light attacks will be some punches and kicks but for her heavy combos we’re going to focus her entire moveset around webbing, her name is Silk after all. Now, while this may seem similar to how we designed Peter on the surface I believe if you just read on you’ll see that there is a lot more we can do with the webbing than what we did with Peter. While Peter’s heavy combos were brutish punches and kicks that happened to involve webs, Silk will seem like an expert seamstress making dangerous web constructs.
The first heavy combo of Silk’s moveset will have her extend webs from her fingertips at enemies and throw them into the air.
For Silk’s second heavy combo we absolutely need to reference that one variant cover from her 2021 run where she’s using a web basketball. To make it an attack here she should quickly create the ball
Then as a third heavy combo Silk will extend large strings of web from her fingertips and spin around, ensnaring enemies and dragging them along with her until the attack ends.
As a fourth heavy combo, Silk will quickly create a large web slingshot and launch herself forward at enemies, damaging them.
Finally, for her fifth heavy combo Silk will create a shield out of webs and toss it forward like a Frisbee, knocking down and heavily damaging enemies.
Silk’s Musou attack will have her begin to rapidly shoot webs at enemies all around her, entangling them in web cocoons you typically see in Spider-Man media, then she shall pull at the webs to undo the cocoons and damage all of those enemies.
Silk’s first attack skill will have her launch a web line forward, if it hits an enemy she’ll pull on the web and swing that enemy around at other enemies like a flail before releasing him.
For her second attack skill, Silk will jump into the air and begin shooting web balls in all directions, knocking away surrounding enemies
Finally, as a third attack skill we’ll have Silk quickly construct a large web ball before kicking it toward enemies, causing it to roll through the battlefield like a boulder before it dissipates.
And with Silk done I think we’ve got enough heroes for a basic Spider-Man Musou game. With most superhero media it isn’t the hero appearances that get people speculating but the villains, so let’s waste no time and talk about the 14 villains that I would personally choose for a Spider-Man Musou game!
Character 5: Norman Osborn (Green Goblin)

Up next on the roster we’ve got what is debatably Spider-Man’s most iconic villain: Norman Osborn! When putting Norman Osborn on the roster I actually had a lot of decisions for what identity to give him. While the Green Goblin is by FAR his most iconic identity he has also been other villains such as the Goblin King and even Carnage.
But no, none of you want to read about what kind of moveset I would give a Carnage-Norman Osborn, you all want to read about how the Green Goblin would play so let’s get into that!
The Green Goblin will naturally always be on his Goblin Glider, flying a few feet off the ground. Because he’s literally going to be on a glider I want the Green Goblin to one of the faster characters on the roster, constantly moving around as he throws around his signature Pumpkin Bombs.
As you may have guessed from those last few words, Norman’s light attacks will be rapidly throwing out explosive Pumpkin Bombs while his heavy combos will either have him throw the bombs in a specific way or use a different weapon in his arsenal.
Green Goblin’s first heavy combo will have him roll a single bomb in front of him that will explode and launch enemies standing above it into the air.
For his second heavy combo Norman will throw several of his razor sharp, uh, razor bats at enemies in a wide arc in front of him.
The third heavy combo of the Green Goblin’s moveset will have him toss a bunch of pumpkin bombs into the air that will explode around him in a circular formation.
As his fourth heavy combo the Green Goblin will hang on tight to his glider as it boosts forward at incredible speed, stabbing through any enemy it hits.
The Green Goblin’s fifth heavy combo will see him grab an enemy with his electrified glove before proceeding to throw them at other enemies.
When it comes to the Green Goblin’s Musou attack we’ll have Norman press some buttons on his arm as if he’s activating some device before several large explosions appear around him, devastating enemies.
For the Green Goblin’s attack skills we’re going to reference a lot of the sillier gadgets and weapons that have become forgotten over the years as he has become a much more serious threat. Such as his first attack skill where we will have him point a finger forward and shoot a laser beam at enemies in front of him.
For his second attack skill the Green Goblin will throw out his Sonic Toad! A robotic frog that will hop around and electrify enemies it bounces into!
Finally, for his third attack skill the Green Goblin will throw out his ghost bomb! This little sheet ghosts will fly around the Goblin and unleash a deadly smoke that will harm any enemy that walks through it.
I tire of these Osborns and their constant goblining but I cannot deny that Norman Osborn is almost always fun when he shows up in movies and video games so he deserves to be on this roster. Now that we’re done with him though let’s move on to Spider-Man’s first villain!
Character 6: The Vulture

Next up on the list we’ve got Spider-Man first supervillain, the Vulture! Except no, he’s not Spider-Man’s first villain! Despite what a lot of people online parrot to the point that even official media like Spider-Man PS4 saye it, the Vulture isn’t Spider-Man’s first villain! The Chameleon was Peter’s first villain with the Vulture being the second. Second place ain’t bad though so let’s go over how this iconic villain should play!
Figuring out how the Vulture should play is probably one of the hardest tasks in our roster as his entire gimmick is that he’s a man who can fly. There are absolutely no characters in any existing Musou game or even Musou-clone that are constantly flying so I need to either get really creative or play this cowardly. Personally, since I am already writing hundreds of thousands of words for you I am going to take the cowards approach.
Yes, our Vulture won’t be flying around constantly. Instead we’ll have his slice at enemies with his incredibly sharp wings for his light attacks while his heavy combos will have him briefly jump into the air to perform various attacks.
The first heavy combo of Vulture’s moveset will have him swipe his wings upward to knock enemies into the air and then begin to slap his wings rapidly, juggling enemies in the air with wind.
Vulture’s second heavy combo will have him swing his arms and send metallic feathers flying at enemies in a horizontal arc.
As a third heavy combo the Vulture will fly up into the air and begin to quickly flap his wings, causing wind shockwaves to appear below him and knock away surrounding enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo Vulture will jump into the air and fly forward into enemies while performing a barrel roll to damage them with his wings.
The fifth and final heavy combo of the Vulture’s moveset will have him fly up into the air and begin to stomp on the heads of enemies in front of him.
For his Musou attack the Vulture will scoop up many enemies with his large wings before flying into the air and dropping them all to the ground.
As his first attack skill we’re going to reference that time the Vulture did what he should have done years ago and just bring a gun to a Spider-Man fight (He’s done this several times). When activating the attack he’ll pull out the gun and fire it a few times at enemies in front of him.
For his second attack skill the Vulture will spin around in a circle and send razor sharp feathers flying in all directions.
Finally, for his third attack skill the Vulture will grab onto an enemy and begin to drain the youth and health of them to grow younger, however once he lets go he will revert back to an old man.
Writing a moveset for Vulture was surprisingly fun considering the limitation we needed to give him. Now let’s move in to someone who doesn’t have a limitation and would THRIVE in a musou game
Character 7: Kraven the Hunter

Here we’ve got a character who is extremely cool unless you’re reading every single Spider-Man comic ever for research like an utter FOOL! Before his death Kraven may have been one of the most overused villains I have ever encountered in media, he was almost constantly around during Spider-Man’s early years and I got sick of him pretty fast before Kraven’s Last Hunt won me over.
Nowadays while he is used much more sparsely the fact that he’s being used at all is annoying. I don’t think I have enjoyed any use of Kraven post-Kraven’s Last Hunt.
But if we’re designing a Spider-Man video game that would be in its own continuity then there’s no way we can’t at least consider using the hunter. His many, many appearances over the years gives use more than enough source material to pull from when designing his moveset.
For his light attacks we’ll give Kraven a spear, while he has used a variety of weapons over the years (sometimes just fighting barehanded) it is Musou game tradition to have a spear fighter and no Spider-Man character fits that role better than Kraven. Both his light attacks and heavy combos will involve using this spear in various ways to hunt enemies.
As a first heavy combo Kraven will perform a horizontal sweep with his spear to knock enemies off their feet before quickly spiking them down to the ground with a vertical slam from his spear.
Then as a second heavy combo Kraven will stab his spear to his left to take care of any enemies near him before transitioning into a horizontal slash.
The third heavy combo of Kraven’s moveset will have him spin his spear over his head to knock away enemies around him.
For his fourth heavy combo Kraven will throw his spear forward like a javelin to damage enemies before running toward them himself to retrieve his weapon.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Kraven will begin to rapidly stab his spear forward at enemies in an attempt to skewer them, absolutely devastating their health.
When thinking up a Musou attack for Kraven there is one super obvious choice that you need to make. When activating the attack Kraven will pull out a shotgun and fire it straightforward at enemies like when he shot Spider-Man, eating through their health bars.
Now while I wanted Kraven’s main moveset to be entirely centered around being the obligatory Dynasty Warriors spear user, having him only use a single weapon just doesn’t feel right. As such, for Kraven’s heavy combos we’re going to have him use some other hunting tools we have seen him use over the years!
For his first attack skill Kraven will pull out a large hunting knife and make several slashes at enemies around him, dealing heavy damage.
As a second attack skill Kraven will pull out a crossbow and fire three shots in random directions. Not only will these shots do damage but they will have a poison effect that will drain the health of whoever they hit.
Finally, as a third attack skill Kraven will use his nipple lasers to blast through enemies directly in front of him. Yes, these were a real thing he had for a while.

Out of every character in this entire article Kraven was by far the easiest to write a moveset for. This man is practically built to be put into a video game! Our next character however was significantly harder to write about.
Character 8: Electro

Up ninth we’ve got Electro! Electro is unique among the iconic members of the Sinister Six as while most of them have developed a lot over the years he has remained completely stagnant. He started as a man who just wanted money and he has remained as that. Occasionally he may be given a few character traits but it’s very rare for those to stick around.
While Electro’s character is nothing to write home about, his power is! Nowadays people with electric powers are a dime a dozen but Electro is one of the first mainstream villains with this trope and that has to count for something!
Gameplay wise, Electro will be our first entirely ranged character on this roster. Similar to Dynasty Warriors characters who use bows, Electro’s light attacks will have him send out small bolts of lightning from his fingertips ahead of him toward enemies while his heavy combos will involve larger lightning bolts.
Electro’s first heavy combo will have him rapidly fire a few electric shots at the feet of enemies, zapping them up into the air.
Then as a second heavy combo Electro will place his hand on the ground and send electricity in several directions toward enemies.
For his third heavy combo Electro will discharge a large amount of electricity in no specific direction, damaging surrounding enemies
Then as a fourth heavy combo Electro will extend his hands forward and send two large bolts of electricity at enemies.
Electro’s fifth and final heavy combo will have him send a single gigantic bolt of lightning at enemies that will explode on contact.
When activating Electro’s musou attack he’ll shoot a lightning bolt up into the sky to create a storm of clouds that shoot lightning down all around him to vaporize enemies.
For his first attack skill Electro will surround himself with a cage of lightning bolts, each bar of this cage will shock enemies upon contact but will also vanish once they shock an enemy
As a second attack skill Electro will stomp his foot forward as a line of lightning bolts rain from the sky toward enemies in front of him.
Electro’s third attack skill will have him transform into a being of pure electricity and dash forward at enemies, shocking them upon contact before turning back to normal.
I cannot believe that Electro of all characters gave me so much trouble but it’s actually pretty hard to think up attacks for a guy who shoots lightning out of his fingertips! Let’s just move on now.
Character 9: Doctor Octopus

Up next we’ve got the good doctor himself: Otto Octavius! While nowadays the Green Goblin is pretty undeniably Spider-Man’s archnemesis there is a very good argument that could be made that that title used to belong to Doctor Octopus.
For this basic Musou roster I’m going to be using a more classic rendition of Doctor Octopus as opposed to the Superior Spider-Man or Superior Octopus. My reasoning for this is that I already have four different Spider-People on the roster already and don’t need to bloat things with characters who are too similar to each other. Fear not though, I have something planned for Superior Spider-Man later down the article.
For his light attacks our Doctor Octopus will swing his tentacles around while slowly walking forward while his heavy combos will involve using the metal tentacles in more complicated ways to either throw around enemies or stomp them out of existence.
Doc Ock’s first heavy combo will have him swing his tentacles upward to knock enemies into the air before stabbing those same tentacles forward to stab at those enemies.
As a second heavy combo, Doc Ock’s tentacles will quickly spin around him to knock away and damage nearby enemies.
For his third heavy combo, Doc Ock’s arms will lift him high into the air as they begin to rapidly stomp on the ground, creating shockwaves that will damage surrounding enemies.
Then as a fourth heavy combo Doc Ock’s arms will begin to spin forward like saw blades as Doc Ock begins to slowly walk forward through enemies.
Finally, Doc Ock’s fifth heavy combo will have him rapidly stab forward with his tentacles over and over again to drain through the health of enemies.
For his musou attack Doc Ock will snap his fingers and the screen will become red as if everything is on fire and enemies will begin to rapidly lose health before things soon return to normal. This will be our homage to when the good doctor used satellites to accelerate global warming.
As his first attack skill Doctor Octopus will grab two cars from seemingly nowhere with his tentacles and toss them forward at enemies, crushing them
Doctor Octopus’ second attack skill will have his tentacles briefly become covered with an electric aura, shocking enemies as he swipes at them.
Finally, for his third heavy combo Doc Ock’s tentacles will grab at nearby enemies and then toss them at their allies to knock them all over.
I NEED to play as Doc Ock in a video game now. Designing a moveset for him was so much fun and made me imagine actually playing as him. Speaking of my wild imagination…
Character 10: The Sandman

Next on the roster we’ve got a member of the Avengers: The Sandman! No, I’m not making that up. For like half of this character’s existence he was a reluctant hero and ally of Spider-Man’s before he randomly became a villain again in the early 2000s with little to no explanation as to why. I will forever be bitter about this.
But enough of me being bitter, when it comes to making character movesets our next two characters are essentially free spaces in terms of making up attacks. Because The Sandman’s entire gimmick is that he can make any shape with his sand body we have free reign over what his attacks will be!
I imagine Sandman being a slower moving character but one with pretty good range. For his light attacks Sandman will swing his right arm around in the shape of a hammer to obliterate enemies while his heavy combos will have him transform his arms into various shapes for different attacks.
The Sandman’s first heavy combo will have him transform his arms into the shape of pitchforks as he stabs upward at enemies, sending them flying.
As a second heavy combo the Sandman’s arm will take the shape of an axe as he swings it horizontally at enemies.
Then as a third heavy combo the Sandman will convert his arm into the shape of a flail and begin to spin it around, damaging a wide range of enemies.
Next for his fourth heavy combo the Sandman will stretch his arms forward in sharp, javelin-like shapes to stab enemies in front of him.
For the fifth and final heavy combo of the Sandman’s moveset we’ll have his large sand arm remain a hammer and have him slam it down on enemies repeatedly in quick succession.
The Sandman’s Musou attack will have him briefly sink into the ground before emerging as a sand colossus, crushing enemies all around him before quickly reverting to normal.
The first attack skill of the Sandman’s moveset will have him morph into a sand tornado to suck up enemies and spit them out.
For his second attack skill the Sandman will create a large sand fist and then proceed to, well, punch enemies with it.
The third and final attack skill of the Sandman’s moveset will have him extend both of his arms forward in the shape of sand serpents to bite at enemies.
So when writing this article I actually decided to rewatch No Way Home in an attempt to get more inspiration for Sandman attacks only to be slapped in the face when I remembered he doesn’t actually do much in that movie. Oops. Let’s move on to our next character now.
Character 11: Mysterio

Up 11th we’ve got the Spider-Man villain who was my absolute favorite growing up: Mysterio! Mysterio is a character with a very complicated history over the years but I think he should go down in history as the first villain to personally mess with Peter Parker’s life when he took on the alias Dr. Ludwig Rinehart. Nowadays every villain messes with Peter Parker as opposed to just fighting Spider-Man, but Mysterio here was ahead of the curve!
Like Sandman a minute ago, when you’re given the task of thinking about how Mysterio would play in a video game you’re essentially handed the easiest job of your life. Because Mysterio’s gimmick is that he creates grand illusions we can have him do absolutely anything and it would look right.
I do want to keep at least a consistent gimmick to his illusions in this moveset though. Something theatrical that would make Mysterio stand out from everyone else on this roster. As such, our Mysterio will create constructs that would look like they were pulled straight from a western medieval fantasy to attack enemies. His light attacks would involve controlling a mist floating around him that will damage enemies it whips while his heavy combos would have him wave his arms and summon an illusion to attack foes.
For his first heavy combo Mysterio will snap his fingers as small, illusionary castles will begin to rise under the feet of enemies, knocking them into the air with their spiked roofs before vanishing.
Then as a second heavy combo Mysterio will summon two lines of imaginary knights with shields in front of him, these knights will then begin to charge in different directions to push away and damage enemies.
The third heavy combo of Mysterio’s moveset will have him conjure up a circle of archers who will begin to fire at enemies all around him.
Mysterio’s fourth heavy combo will have him conjure up an illusion of knights on horses charging forward, crushing enemies in their path.
Finally for his fifth heavy combo Mysterio will sit down in a chair made out of mist as an illusionary dragon appears and breathes fire all over enemies before vanishing in the mist.
When activating Mysterio’s musou attack he’ll astonishing all who sees him by appearing to grow gigantic and crushing enemies underneath his feet before shrinking back to normal.
For Mysterio’s attack skills we’re going to break the gimmick we’ve given him and instead pull a bunch of illusions he has done before for fanservice. Such as his first attack skill where we’ll have him snap his fingers as an illusionary train runs over enemies.
As a second attack skill Mysterio will multiply into an entire crowd of Mysterios, each of these will then proceed to beat up nearby enemies.
The third and final attack skill of Mysterio’s moveset will have him appear to make a building come to life and begin punching at enemies, damaging enemies before revealing it was just a bunch of falling boulders.
I imagine designing Mysterio around a mechanic out of my own imagination as opposed to entirely using illusions he has constructed over the years is going to get me a lot of hate, but I’m sticking to it. Let’s now move on to a character I had a significantly less solid idea for.
Character 12: The Lizard

Up twelfth we’ve got another one of Spider-Man’s earliest foes: the Lizard! The Lizard is another villain like Electro who hasn’t changed a whole lot since his earliest days, but unlike Electro that’s because he started out with a genuinely cool concept: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but the Hyde is a huge lizard.
I don’t really have much to say about the Lizard compared to everyone else so far, he’s cool but he doesn’t stick in my mind much when he isn’t on screen. However he is important enough to Spider-Man’s history that this roster would just look wrong without him in it.
Moveset wise thinking up attack for the Lizard is going to be significantly harder than our last two characters. For his light attacks we’ll have the Lizard slice at enemies with his sharp claws while his heavy combos will have him lunging at enemies or swiping them with his tail.
As a first heavy combo the Lizard will swipe enemies into the air with its tail before jumping up into the air itself to scratch at them.
Then as a second heavy combo the Lizard will grab onto two enemies with his claws and proceed to toss them at other enemies.
For its third heavy combo the Lizard will quickly spin around once and smack surrounding enemies with its large tail.
As a fourth heavy combo the Lizard will lunge forward at enemies and begin to scratch at them.
The Lizard’s fifth heavy combo will have him charge forward at enemies before opening his jaw and chomping down on them.
For his Musou attack the Lizard will roar in agony, causing a huge hoard of tiny lizards to burst from the ground which will begin to crawl on and bury enemies, heavily damaging them before the lizards vanish.
When using the Lizards attack skills we’re going to take influence from earlier Lizard stories and have him command around a pack of crocodiles to attack enemies. For example his first attack skill will have him command them to charge forward at enemies.
As a second attack skill the Lizard’s crocodiles will circle around him, biting and knocking away anyone standing too close.
Finally, for his third attack skill the Lizard will knock enemies into the air with his tail before his crocodiles begin to bite at the midair enemies.
Thinking up attacks for the Lizard is hard as although Marvel has constantly evolved the character in interesting ways over the years he hasn’t really gotten any powers other than being a giant Lizard, which is fair he doesn’t need more it just made my life harder for a few days.
Character 13: Venom (Eddie Brock)

Here we go! The legend themselves: Venom! Venom’s popularity cannot be understated, they are easily one of the most popular anti-heroes in comics and it’s very rare for them to not either have their own ongoing comic or be in some sort of team.
And who can blame them? People absolutely love Venom, me included. The “rival with the exact same powers as you” trope in fiction is popular for a reason. Putting your protagonist against someone who knows everything they can do and can do it better than them is almost always entertaining to watch and that makes Venom fights very entertaining.
Gameplay wise, we have more than enough source materials to pull from for Venom. He’ll be much slower than any of our Spider-Men but he’ll hit like a truck. His light attacks will have him swing his arms around to smash enemies while his heavy combos will feature deadly techniques involving the symbiote.
Venom’s first heavy combo will have them slam both of their fists on the ground as hard as they can, causing a shockwave that will knock enemies into the air.
The second heavy combo of Venom’s moveset will have them extend a web line somewhere offscreen before they proceed to swing to their left and right, kicking enemies along the way.
For their third heavy combo Venom will extend the symbiote in all directions around it to stab at and pull in nearby enemies.
As a fourth heavy combo Venom will extend the symbiote forward like one of Spider-Man’s webs and pull a group of enemies toward them for a brutal bite.
Then for their fifth and final heavy combo Venom will run up to a crowd of enemies and extend their mouth before chomping on them in an attempt to eat their brains.
Venom’s Musou attack will have the symbiote begin to grow to gigantic size as it tries to consume any enemy in front of them with its goo before spitting the enemies out with a chunk of their health missing.
For their attack skills we’re going to have Venom and Eddie Brock act separately briefly to accomplish their goals. A fact that tends to be forgotten is that Eddie is very buff and can be a threat without the symbiote so why not give that some representation?
For their first attack skill the Venom symbiote will retract as Eddie Brock pulls out a flamethrower to burn nearby enemies.
As a second attack skill the symbiote will spit Eddie Brock forward at enemies. Once spit out Eddie will deliver a brutal combo of three punches before the symbiote reattaches to him.
Their third and final attack skill will have the symbiote retract again as Eddie pull out a large machete and begins to rapidly slash at enemies before regaining the symbiote.
Venom is awesome and I wish I liked Eddie Brock more. Making a moveset was relatively easy for him but I admittedly had some trouble distinguishing him from the other Spider-People on the roster. Let’s move on to someone much easier to make a moveset for!
Character 14: The Rhino

Up fourteenth we’ve got a villain who has a lot more depth than you would think: The Rhino! Yes, Alexksei here has gone through a lot in the past 60 years of comics. Far too much for me to go into but just trust me when I say that this guy deserves to be on this roster.
Figuring out a moveset for the Rhino is going to be just as hard as figuring one out for the Lizard. This man’s entire gimmick is that he runs through buildings! Which raises the question of if he should be a fast character who is constantly running or a slow and heavy character because he’s such a big dude. The decision I came to in the end is that while his heavy combos will be super quick charges his light attacks will be very slow and he’ll turn like a car when trying to control him.
For his light attacks we’ll have the Rhino stab at enemies with his large horn while his heavy combos will have him run around in various ways. Please forgive me if this particular moveset doesn’t come across as very inspired!
As a first heavy combo the Rhino will bring his head close to the ground before pulling it up quickly and knocking enemies into the air with his horn, he will then repeat this action two times to keep up the damage.
Then as a second heavy combo the Rhino will begin to rapidly swing his head left and right as he stomps forward, knocking away enemies.
For his third heavy combo the Rhino will muster up all of his strength to jump into the air and belly flop onto enemies, heavily damaging enemies he directly lands on while also creating a shockwave to lightly damage other enemies.
The Rhino’s fourth heavy combo will of course be old reliable, when activating the combo the Rhino will charge horn first at enemies in front of him, trampling all in his path.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo the Rhino will charge forward and stab his horn into a group of enemies before stopping and spinning around in a circle to make sure he didn’t miss any.
For Rhino’s musou attack we’re actually going to take influence from Amazing Spider-Man 2 of all things. His musou attack should have him get on all four legs and charge forward as his suit fires missiles at enemies near him.
It would be impossible to think up three more attacks for the Rhino based on only him charging into things with his head. Thankfully there was very briefly another Rhino in the comics who used a weapon we can give to our Rhino: a rhino-scythe! When activating the Rhino’s attack skill we’ll have him pull this big scythe out of nowhere to pulverize enemies.
For his first attack skill the Rhino will pull out his scythe and begin to repeatedly slam it down on the heads of enemies before putting it away.
As a second attack skill the Rhino will take his scythe and slowly spin around in a circle, dragging enemies along with him as he damages them.
Finally, for his third attack skill the Rhino will slowly pull his scythe upward and launch both enemies and boulders from the ground into the air.
I absolutely loved constructing a moveset for the Rhino and always jump at the opportunity to tell more people about the Rhino scythe! Now let’s move on to the worst character in this entire article.
Character 15: Morbius

It’s Morbin’ time! There, are you happy I typed the meme shut up! Before I began reading every Spider-Man comic ever the existence of a Morbius movie made complete sense to me. After all, he’s a Spider-Man villain who was mainstream enough that a lot of casual people like me had heard of him. I no longer hold that opinion.
Morbius has very, very few appearances in Spider-Man comics throughout the past 60 years and as such has had next to no development as a character. The only reason Morbius is on my roster is because he has appeared in his own movie and most Spider-Man cartoons.
Thankfully making a moveset for Morbius shouldn’t be very hard, being a Hollywood styled Vampire we have not only his few appearances to pull from but pretty much any vampire attack trope is free game. His light attacks will have him swipe at enemies with his sharp nails while his heavy combos will involve lunging around and attempting to feed on his victims.
As a first heavy combo Morbius will fly above enemies and pull them into the air to feast on them.
Morbius’ second attack skill will have him jump diagonally to his right to feast on enemies before proceeding to do the same thing on his left.
Then as a third heavy combo Morbius will run around in a circle, scratching at enemies along his way.
For his fourth heavy combo, Morbius will lunge forward at enemies in an attempt to bite them.
When activating Morbius’ musou attack he will cringe in pain as his body transforms into a large vampire bat monster like in his 2019 series and begin to attack enemies. Quickly reverting to normal afterward.
I’ll be completely honest it is next to impossible to think of things Morbius can actually do. So for his attack combos we’re just going to have bats come out of nowhere and assist him. Such as his first attack skill where a group of bats will fly forward and attack enemies.
For his second attack skill the bats will fly over enemies and drag them into the air before dropping them to the ground.
Finally, as a third attack skill the bats will circle around Morbius to harm surrounding enemies.
I despised making a moveset for Morbius. He was the last character I finished making a moveset for in this entire article because it’s so hard to think of anything this man can do! Let us PLEASE move on to a character that is easier to write for!
Character 16: The Prowler (Aaron Davis)

Up next we’ve a rarity in comics. A heroic identity that has been completely usurped in popularity by a later version that was a villain! The original Prowler, Hobbie Brown, may have fought Spider-Man in his first appearance but he quickly became and stayed an ally. The Ultimate version of the Prowler in comparison has always been portrayed as villainous, even if the popular Spider-Verse movie gave him previously unseen sympathetic character traits.
The one downside of using the Ultimate version of the Prowler is that the Ultimate Prowler has a significantly worse costume than the original Prowler. Because of this the Spider-Verse movie wisely used a combination of the original and Ultimate Prowler costumes while the PS5 Miles Morales game sadly used a costume that was mostly inspired by the Ultimate version.
For this Musou roster I would also like to make the Prowler’s gameplay a mix of the original and Ultimate Prowler. For his light attacks he should slice at enemies with the original Prowler’s claws while his heavy combos will be a combination of claw strikes and gadgets used by Aaron Davis in Miles Morales’ comics.
As a first heavy combo the Prowler will uppercut enemies into the air before rapidly scratching at them with his claws.
The second heavy combo of the Prowler’s moveset will have him charge forward with his hands outstretched to scratch at enemies on his left and right.
Then as a third heavy combo the Prowler will pull out sonic gauntlets stolen from Electro and spin in a circle as he fires blasts at enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo the Prowler will begin to fire concussive blasts from his gloves at enemies in front of him.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo the Prowler will pull out a large futuristic gun and fire explosive energy blasts at a crowd of enemies.
When activating Prowler’s musou attack he’ll turn invisible similar to Miles before appearing behind a crowd of enemies to slash at them with his claws.
For the Prowler’s first attack skill he’ll sprout some stolen Vulture wings from his back and send razor sharp feathers flying forward at enemies.
As a second attack skill the Prowler will pull out a spiked chain stolen from the Ultimate version of the Scorpion and toss it forward at enemies, hooking them and reeling them in for more attacks.
The Prowler’s third and final attack skill will have Iron Spider legs from the time he had that identity burst out of his back and perform a few quick slashes at enemies before retracting.
I was expecting the Prowler to be a much harder character to write a moveset for because of how generic a suit Ultimate Prowler had, but rereading his parts of Miles’ original run gave me a lot more inspiration than I thought I would get. Let’s now move on to a character who I thought would be easy to write but was actually pretty hard.
Character 17: Kaine

Second To last on my basic roster we’ve got a villain that you either love or you pretend to hate while secretly loving: Kaine!
Calling Kaine a villain is a bit harsh as he had a redemption arc in the MC2 Spider-Girl series and eventually became a permanent hero in the main Marvel universe and took up the Scarlet Spider identity. However, that doesn’t matter for my roster because I would specifically use the villain version of Kaine because I absolutely love this costume.
While we would be using the villainous Kaine I do want to bring in various aspects of his fighting style from his later appearances. Particularly how he is the one Spider-Person who seems more than willing to use the powers of The Other. As such, for his light attacks Kaine will stab forward at enemies with the spider pincers in his wrists while his heavy combos will have him use more complex techniques.
For his first heavy combo Kaine will stab upward at enemies, uppercutting them into the air where he can begin to juggle them.
Then as a second heavy combo Kaine will stab at enemies to his left before quickly moving to his right for another stab.
Kaine’s third heavy combo will have him rapidly web line himself in several directions, stabbing at enemies as he moves.
As a fourth heavy combo Kaine will launch a web forward at a crowd of enemies before pulling them in close to be stabbed by his pincers.
Finally, for his fifth heavy combo Kaine will charge forward at enemies with his pincers out to stab at them for heavy damage.
Kaine’s Musou attack will have him use his most iconic technique: the Mark of Kaine! When activating the attack Kaine will run to and grab the nearest enemy by their face and begin to burn through their health before getting bored and tossing the enemy back into the crowd, dealing devastating damage!
As a first attack skill we’ll have Kaine jump forward head and arms first into a crowd of enemies similar to what he did during Spider-Island.
For his second attack skill Kaine will run forward with his arms raised, clotheslining enemies as he passes them.
Kaine’s third attack skill will have him jump into the air before quickly spiking himself down to the ground, stabbing at enemies he lands on.
I was really expecting Kaine to be a super easy slam dunk but he ended up being one of the harder characters to write on this roster both because he is yet another Spider-Person and I didn’t have a super solid idea for what to do with him. Thankfully our next character I had excellent ideas for!
Character 18: Big Wheel

Yes. This is who would be the final character in my hypothetical Spider-Man Musou. Imagine there being a mode like Conquest Mode in DW7 or the Dream Island in Pirate Warriors 3 where you need to beat most of the mode to unlock a single character and you get the biggest Spider-Man joke villain. It would set the internet aflame.
And him being a fun joke that we all love is far from the only reason I’m putting the Big Wheel on the roster. After thinking things through I legitimately think that Big Wheel would be extremely fun to play as! Just imagine a character whose light attacks involve constantly rolling around and squishing enemies while his heavy combos have him attacking with large claws or firing weapons, the moveset writes itself if you allow yourself some freedom and play into the silliness of the concept!
The first heavy combo of the Big Wheel’s moveset will have it place its large claws on the ground before quickly pulling them upwards to damage and launch nearby enemies into the air.
The Big Wheel’s second heavy combo will have it fall over to its right and crush enemies before proceeding to pick itself up with its claws.
Then as a third heavy combo the Big Wheel will drive around in a large circle, crushing any enemies it happens to run over.
For the Big Wheel’s fourth heavy combo it will begin shooting a rapid string of bullets forward at enemies.
Finally, Big Wheel’s fifth heavy combo will have it rev up and begin to charge forward at enemies, similar to horse musou attacks in mainline Dynasty Warriors.
For its Musou attack the Big Wheel will reveal it had a hidden missile launcher in its arsenal and begin to fire them all around it to devastate enemies.
Big Wheel’s first attack skill will have it spin in place in a circle while rapidly firing its guns, blasting away surrounding enemies
As a second attack skill a car will have in front of Big Wheel, trapping enemies before Big Wheel crushes both them and the car like a monster truck.
Finally, for its third attack skill the Big Wheel will drive forward slowly while firing a purple laser, slicing through enemies in its path.
And that was the Big Wheel! One of the characters I had the most fun writing a moveset for and the last character in our basic Spider-Man Musou roster, however he isn’t the last one I’m going to make you read about. If you don’t mind staying here a bit longer.
Intermission 1
Normally this is where I would write the conclusion to my article and say something like I was proud of my roster, but not this time! No, I read over 4,000 comic books in the research phase of this article! I spent MONTHS preparing to write this! I am not stopping until I am 100% satisfied!
So, while I just gave an ideal roster for a very basic Spider-Man Musou, let’s go a bit further! Let’s design what a sequel game would look like!
Yes, I’m going to be writing another roster for you today you greedy readers! This second roster would have less new characters on it than the first as we already have the basics down. The theme of this second roster will be bringing in other classic Spider-Man villains who probably wouldn’t make it into the first game while also adding 4 more heroes and bringing in some more Ultimate Universe elements to expand Miles’ character interactions.
With all that said, let’s talk about 11 characters I would put into a second Spider-Man Musou!
Spider-Man Musou 2: Ultimate Spider-Musou
Character 1: Ben Riley (Scarlet Spider)

Yes, the first new hero in our roster is the ever infamous Ben Riley! Ben Riley has had a sad, sad character history as it seems like Marvel Comics has been intentionally doing everything in their power to make Ben Riley fans angry for the past decade.
We Ben Riley fans remain strong though, we will continue to insist that this character who has appeared almost entirely in bad storylines as awesome and deserving of respect!
Gameplay wise, Ben is actually one of the easiest Spider-People to think up a moveset for despite being a clone of Peter Parker. The reason for this being that a lot of gadgets that Spider-Man fans are used to Peter having in video games such as Impact Webbing actually originated around the 90s. So, why give them all to Ben? Even if Ben isn’t the originator of all of Spider-Man’s gadgets, having him use them would be a great way of differentiating him from Peter while also paying homage to various parts of Spider-Man’s history!
For his light attacks Ben should use the exact same basic punches and kicks that Peter does, heck you could get away with recycling the animation if you wanted to! Then for his heavy combos he’ll make use of various gadgets to deal damage to enemies!
Ben’s first heavy combo will have him use the suspension matrix from Spider-Man PS4 (This is the only gadget from that game that I’m pretty sure has no origin in the comics) the launch enemies into the air for a second before they land and take damage.
As a second heavy combo, Ben will toss out web trip mines that will damage and briefly ensnare enemies that stand too close to them.
The third heavy combo of Ben’s moveset will have him do a backflip as he tosses down a web bomb that will explode and damage all surrounding enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo, Ben will use his most iconic gadget: impact webbing! When activating the combo Ben will launch two web balls forward that will not only knock enemies back but will also expand webs around their bodies to keep them stuck for a second.
Finally, Ben’s fifth heavy combo will have him shoot out an electrified web line at an enemy that will zap them before Ben throws the electrified enemy at other foes.
For Ben’s Musou attack we’ll have him jump into the air to dodge as the mighty Spider-Mobile appears and begins to drive under him, crushing enemies in its path before vanishing.
Ben’s attack skills will once again have him take advantage of various gadgets in Spider-Man’s arsenal, such as his first attack skill which will have him shine the Spider Signal on his belt into the eyes of enemies, dealing very light damage to them.
For his second attack skill Ben will call upon the Spider-Glider that Peter currently has in the comics to fly into the heads of enemies before gracefully dismounting.
Ben’s third attack skill will have him toss out three hologram projectors to distract enemies similar to the Scarlet Spider suit power in Spider-Man PS4, but this time the holograms will actually be able to hurt enemies before they vanish.
While Ben was yet another Spider-Person on the roster it was actually very easy to write a moveset for him once I started ripping off ideas from other Spider-Man games. Our next character though was much harder to write for…
Character 2: Spider-Man 2099

Up second we’ve got one of the best alternate Spider-People; Spider-Man 2099! For those of you unfamiliar with Spider-Man 2099 he started out as a hero in the year 2099 who was inspired by the original Spider-Man. Then in 2014 he was moved to the present day and pretty much became the Spider-Man that reader’s want Peter Parker to be like, he even has a wife and kid!
Thinking up how Spider-Man 2099 should play is harder than you would think. Because a lot of what originally made Spider-Man 2099 unique such as having claws has become standard among Spider-People in the 2010s. However I was careful not to give Silk or Kaine any scratching based attacks so we should be fine with having his basic light attacks be scratches. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can really do to make his heavy combos be unique from the other Spider-People but I can at least mix things up so he doesn’t just have a clone of Peter Parker’s moveset
Spider-Man 2099’s first attack skill will have him uppercut enemies into the air similar to Peter, but instead of using a web line to pull himself up too he’ll rapidly fire webs up at them for extra damage.
Then as a second heavy combo Spider-Man 2099 will charge up two large web balls and throw them in separate directions to his enemies.
As a third heavy combo Spider-Man 2099 will grab an enemy with his webs and begin to spin them around, smashing surrounding enemies.
The fourth heavy combo of Spider-Man 2099’s moveset will have him jump into the air and glide forward on his web wings before kicking enemies in front of him.
Then for his final heavy combo we’ll have Spider-Man 2099 web line himself toward enemies and unleash a brutal midair scratch.
For his musou attack Spider-Man 2099 will activate some cloaking tech on all nearby enemies to make them all look like Spider-Man, causing them to attack each other until the effect ends.
As a first attack skill Spider-Man 2099 will run up to enemies fast before jumping up and scratching at their faces.
For his second attack skill Spider-Man 2099 will begin to throw packets of delicious golden sponge cakes at enemies in desperation.
Finally, as a third attack skill Spider-Man 2099 will open a time door out of nowhere as a large green fist belonging to a familiar villain we won’t speak the name of grabs at and damages enemies.
Spider-Man 2099 was the second to last character I finished writing a moveset for when making this article. The reason being a lot of his gimmicks like organic webbing and claws have gone from being a unique feature to being something that nearly every modern Spider-Person has! Thankfully the next person on the roster had a more unique gimmick for me to take advantage of.
Character 3: Agent Venom (Flash Thompson)

Up third we’ve got another symbiote character: Agent Venom! Agent Venom is a concept that I’m surprised has lasted as long as it has. Giving Flash Thompson a symbiote and having him go on black ops operations for the government is a cool concept and I’m glad it’s one of those changes that’s stuck.
It’s pretty easy to think up a moveset for Agent Venom as he brings to the table something no one else in our roster does: guns! For his light attacks we’ll have Agent Venom rapidly fire bullets from two handguns at enemies around him while his heavy combos will feature a combination of heavy weaponry and symbiote powers.
For his first heavy combo, Agent Venom will slide on his knees under enemies while firing his guns rapidly upward to send them flying into the air.
The second heavy combo of Agent Venom’s moveset will have two goo-like tentacles grow from the symbiote holding handguns and firing at enemies in two different directions before retracting back into the suit.
Agent Venom’s third heavy combo will be similar, but instead of pulling out two handguns the tentacles will bring out two machine guns and fire them in a circle around Agent Venom.
Then as a fourth heavy combo, Agent Venom will pull out a rifle and fire a single shot forward that will fly through and hit several enemies.
Finally, for his fifth heavy combo Agent Venom will grow large claws and begin to slash at enemies in a furious rage.
When activating Agent Venom’s musou attack he will lose control of his anger and grow into the large and monstrous Venom we all know before unleashing a flurry of combos on enemies, trying to eat them. After the attack he shall revert back to normal.
For his first attack skill the symbiote will transform Agent Venom’s arm into the head of a scythe and slash at enemies around him
As a second attack skill Agent Venom will stretch the arms of his symbiote forward to pull enemies in before unleashing a handgun shot to their heads.
Agent Venom’s third and final attack skill will have a motorcycle appear under his feet that he will ride into enemies, exploding upon contact.
Despite being another Spider-Person the addition of having an arsenal made writing a moveset for Agent Venom really easy and fun to do. Now that I’ve added 3 more Spider-People to the roster let’s move on to a hero who has nothing to do with spider powers.
Character 4: Bombshell

Our fourth hero on this second roster is probably my first out of left field pick in this article: Bombshell! (Don’t worry, more are coming. I made 49 movesets!!). Bombshell technically started off as an Ultimate Spider-Man villain but by her second appearance in the book she had become a reluctant friend of Peter and later on a heroic ally of Miles Morales.
And personally I love Bombshell, her first outfit looked very bad but once she got a costume change and became a recurring ally of Miles I loved pretty much every appearance from her. Plus, her power would make for a really cool moveset.
Bombshell’s power is that she can shoot energy rings from her arms that explode when they hit a target. At least that’s how I think they work, she makes explosions and is always drawn with rings around her but I’ll be completely honest when I say I’m not completely sure how it works.
For her moveset we’ll have Bombshell’s light attacks be her throwing these explosive rings in front of her constantly while her heavy combos will involve creating specific formations with these explosions to deal heavy damage to enemies.
For her first heavy combo Bombshell will throw an explosive ring at the ground directly in front of her, causing an explosion at the feet of enemies that will launch them into the air.
Then as a second heavy combo, Bombshell will direct explosions at her own feet to send herself flying in midair. Said explosions would harm enemies too close to her before she quickly falls back to the ground.
Bombshell’s third heavy combo will have her spin around in a circle, sending explosions flying out in several directions.
As a fourth heavy combo we’re actually going to reverse our usual pattern of having the fourth combo move you toward the enemy and instead have Bombshell fire several large explosions that send her flying backwards.
Finally, for her fifth heavy combo Bombshell will run forward into a crowd before unleashing an explosion in her hand directly into the faces of a few enemies.
There really isn’t a lot we can pull from in the source material when making a musou attack for Bombshell. She’s too much of a jobber in fights to have an ultimate attack. So for her musou attack we’ll have her charge up a large explosion before unleashing it on all surrounding enemies.
Bombshell’s first attack skill will have her toss several explosions forward at enemies in desperation.
As a second attack skill Bombshell will toss an explosive diagonally to her right before firing another diagonally to her left.
Finally, for her third attack skill Bombshell will charge up a larger than normal explosion and toss it forward into a crowd of enemies.
I really wanted to write a good moveset for Bombshell because I love her and think she deserves more attention, but it’s really hard to think of 9 different ways something can explode! Let’s just move on to our villains now.
Character 5: Ultimate Green Goblin

The first villain on our second roster is the Ultimate Universe version of the Green Goblin! Yes, I’m making another moveset for Norman Osborn and I apologize ahead of time because there will be a third. To justify myself though, the Ultimate version of the Green Goblin has very different powers than the main universe version!
Instead of putting on a costume and riding a glider around, the Ultimate Green Goblin turns into a giant goblin monster that can throw fireballs from his hands. It’s a very cool change and I’m surprised the only alternate universe Spider-Man story to do the same thing is Spider-Man India!
Making a moveset for the Ultimate Goblin will be very easy compared to some of the more monstrous characters earlier because he has more attacks than, say, the Rhino. For his light attacks the Ultimate Green Goblin will punch and slash at enemies while his heavy combos will have him either throw fireballs or throw enemies around.
For his first heavy combo the Ultimate Goblin will uppercut a group of enemies into the air before grabbing them and slamming them back into the ground.
Ultimate Goblin’s second heavy combo will have him toss forward one fireball at enemies before quickly tossing another forward with his other hand.
The Ultimate Goblin’s third heavy combo will have him jump into the air before throwing a large fireball toward the ground that will explode and hit all surrounding enemies.
As a fourth heavy combo the Ultimate Goblin will put his hands together and send a large stream of fire flying forward at enemies similar to the time when he fought Harry.
Then for his fifth and final heavy combo the Ultimate Goblin will jump forward at enemies to unleash a large fireball in their faces for heavy damage.
For his Musou attack the Ultimate Goblin will jump off screen into the air before quickly slamming back down on the ground with a gas truck in hand, causing an explosion that will devastate all nearby enemies.
As a first attack skill the Ultimate Goblin will begin to charge at enemies head first while swinging his arms around, knocking anyone out of his way
The Ultimate Goblin’s second attack skill will have him combine two fireballs into a large fireball before bowling it forward toward enemies.
For his third attack skill the Ultimate Goblin will create a beam of fire with both hands like in his fourth heavy combo, but this time he will jump into the air before he does and direct the flame at a specific part of the ground.
Ultimate Green Goblin falls in the middle of the road where while I didn’t have a particularly hard time making a moveset for him, I can’t say I had a super fun time doing it. I definitely would want to play as him in a game like this though. Now that I’ve made a moveset for one of the most serious Spider-Man villains, let’s move on to a sillier one.
Character 6: Spot

Poor Spot, he’s forever cursed to be a joke villain. Ever since his debut this guy hasn’t been taken seriously and has been put in team ups of intentionally goofy Spider-Man villains on more than one occasion. There was a brief time in the 2010s where they tried to make Spot seem cooler via some body horror but that didn’t last long. Maybe the new Spider-Verse movie will make him cool but that’s doubtful.
As for how he would play in our hypothetical Musou game, we’re going to stretch what his power can do slightly. Instead of having him transport himself from one location to another with his spots we’ll have him continuously put his fists into spots floating around him which would then become multiple fists punching as enemies. The only way to make his power really work in a game like this would be to multiply his fists like that.
For his light attacks we’ll have Spot punch into spots floating to his sides while four fists appear from spots in front of him to hurt enemies while his heavy combos will have his fists appear in various formations to deal heavy damage to enemies
As a first heavy combo, Spot will kick through a spot and then that same leg to appear out of another spot to kick and launch enemies into the air.
Spot’s second heavy combo will have him stick his hands into some spots on him as rows of hands appear to his sides to slap away enemies.
The third heavy combo of Spot’s moveset will have him stick his fists into two spots near him as a large ring of fists appear from the ground around him, punching a wide range of enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo Spot will punch through a spot in front of him as a row of fists begins to pop up in front of him, damaging enemies.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Spot will stomp a foot into a spot on the ground as several other feet appear above the heads of enemies and stomp on them.
Spot’s musou attack will have him put large spots under the feet of all enemies around him, sucking them in before spitting them out of other spots with a large amount of their health missing.
For his first attack skill we’re actually going to give the Spot something more of a counter than an attack. When activating this attack skill for a short period of time any attack that hits the Spot will bounce right back at enemies.
As a second attack skill the Spot will throw out a small amount of uh, spots toward the ground in front of him. If an enemy were to step on these they would fall in and spit out a different one.
The third and final attack skill of the Spot’s moveset will have him stick a hand in one of his spots as several in-midair hands surround him. These hands will remain in midair, harming nearby enemies, until the Spot attacks again.
Constructing a moveset for the Spot was a fun time but I have a feeling that nerds more pedantic than me are already entering the comment section to tell me how awful a job I did on him. So let’s just quickly move on to a villain that shows I’m a bigger nerd than them!
Character 7: Puma

Next on the roster we’ve got my favorite Spider-Man villain: Puma! Puma is amazing and it’s honestly a travesty that you, the person reading this, don’t know more about him. I’ve actually put together an essential reading list of Puma stories so how about you open that in a new tab and read some Puma stuff when you finish this article!
Making a moveset for Puma is going to be pretty difficult unfortunately because at the end of the day he’s just a really strong guy with claws. In order to make him seem unique we’ll have him constantly be jumping around during his heavy combos while his light attacks will be more simplistic punches and kicks.
For his first heavy combo Puma will kick enemies into the air before proceeding to jump up after them to strike with his claws.
The second heavy combo of Puma’s moveset will have him hop forward into two different directions with his claws outstretched to scratch at enemies.
Then as a third heavy combo Puma will get on all fours and begin to run in a circle, scratching at enemies in his path with his large claws as he runs by.
Puma’s fourth heavy combo will have him jump forward with his knee extended to harm enemies.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Puma will leap forward like a wild animal to scratch and bite at enemies.
When activating Puma’s musou attack an aura in the shape of a large puma spirit will begin to surround him as he pounces around and attacks enemies, with him ending the attack off by roaring to the sky.
For his attack skills Puma will be assisted by Jesse Black Crow, who oversaw his final battle with Spider-Man. Puma’s first attack skill with have the black crow fly by as lightning bolts strike down on enemies.
As a second attack skill Jesse Black Crow will appear in human form alongside Puma and fire several shots from a bow at enemies.
Puma’s third attack skill will have Jesse Black Crow appear in the form of a giant crow, flying at enemies to claw at them with his feet.
I wanted to make a really cool moveset for Puma but he’s just a guy! I swear this guy is really cool and you should read all of his stories! Oh God the next person on the roster is also someone who was hard to write for!
Character 8: Shocker

Next up on the roster we’ve got a villain who is a mainstay Spider-Man villain who appears in most media, but is simultaneously one of the most forgettable Spider-Man villains. Shocker just isn’t a very memorable character and for most of his history he has had to be the minion or partner of other more interesting villains.
Gameplay wise I’m also going to have a hard time constructing a moveset for Shocker. His one and only gimmick are his gloves which he uses to launch concentrated blasts of air at people. It’s going to be incredibly hard to make eight entire attacks out of that, but I’ll try my best!
I want Shocker to be another ranged character similar to Agent Venom and Electro earlier in the article. Since his gloves are long range concussive blasts we shouldn’t be having him run up and punch enemies. For his light attacks he’ll rapidly launch attacks directly in front of him, alternating which hand he uses as he does, while his heavy combos will have him use his gloves in a specific way to harm enemies.
As a first heavy combo the Shocker will fire a few shots from his gauntlets at the feet of enemies, knocking them into the air.
Then for his second heavy combo Shocker will aim his gauntlets in two separate directions in front of him before firing at enemies.
Shocker’s third heavy combo will have him spin around in a circle while firing his gauntlets to hit a wide range of enemies.
For Shocker’s fourth heavy combo we’re going to take influence from the PS4 game where he uses his gauntlets to hop along streets. Here we will have him jump and begin to hop forward by blasting the ground, blasting away enemies as he does.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Shocker will charge up a huge blast from his gauntlets and launch it at enemies in front of him for heavy damage.
Shocker’s Musou attack will have him point his gauntlets forward and instead of rapidly firing them he’ll hold in a continuous shot that will repeatedly damage enemies in its radius until the attack ends.
When activating his first attack skill Shocker will pull out a controller and have the head of Silvermane attached to a toy car charge forward at enemies.
Then for his second attack skill Shocker will instead pull the head of Silvermane out of a bag and toss it forward at enemies.
Finally, as a third attack skill Shocker will aim his gauntlets behind him and begin to fire to propel himself toward enemies.
Writing for Shocker was very hard because out of the well known Spider-Man villains he’s easily the one who leaves my mind the most often, thankfully our next character was a breath of fresh air compared to him.
Character 9: The Spider Slayer (J Johnah Jameson)

Up ninth in our second roster we’ve got the Spider Slayer! There was no shortage of options for what I could use for the Spider-Slayer. From a controlled robot suit to giant robots to just Smythe himself there is no shortage of robots called the Spider-Slayer. I have opted to use the funniest option: Johnah controlling a small robot that has a lot of tentacles!
Not only is this design hilarious, but it’s so funny and iconic that it has frequently come back in the modern era! Johnah even uses it while helping Spider-Man on more than one occasion!
Moveset wise the Spider Slayer is also fair game when thinking up attacks. I can write pretty much anything here and it will sound like it makes sense. For his light attacks the Spider Slayer will swipe at enemies with its tentacles while its heavy combos will involve either throwing enemies around or electrifying them.
As a first heavy combo Johnah will swing the tentacles of the Spider Slayer upward to knock enemies into the air.
Johnah’s second heavy combo will have him begin to rapidly slam the tentacles of the Spider Slayer on the ground, knocking away enemies too close to him.
Then as a third heavy combo Johnah will begin to spin the Spider Slayer around in circles, whacking around enemies with his tentacles as he does so.
The fourth heavy combo of Johnah’s moveset will have him begin to charge the Spider Slayer head first into a crowd of enemies, yelling and smacking them away as he does.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Johnah will grab an enemy with the tentacle of the Spider Slayer and begin to shake them up and down before tossing them into the crowd of enemies.
For the Spider Slayer’s musou attack we’re going to lean heavily into fanservice and have all the other Spider Slayers appear behind Johnah and unleash a barrage of attacks on enemies before vanishing. What are the other Spider Slayers? Well have no fear as I also want to have Johnah’s attack skills focus on them!
As a first attack skill Johnah will call upon the giant robot Spider Slayers to land one and shoot at enemies.
For his second attack skill the more humanoid robot looking Spider Slayer will run by Johnah to punch at enemies a few times.
The third and final attack skill of Johnah’s moveset will have the Spider Slayer with extremely long arms and legs walk by Johnah and swing its arms at enemies around him.
I had way too much fun writing this moveset, not as much fun as when I wrote Big Wheel’s moveset but it was a chill time. Just like how I included a classic meme villain like Big Wheel on our first roster, let’s add a modern meme villain to this roster.
Character 10: El Muerto

El Muerto is getting his own movie and thus is important enough to put in a Spider-Man video game. I don’t need to justify this, take your complaints up with the Sony executives who decided to make an El Muerto movie! I will say though, El Muerto may have only appeared in three comic issues ever but he still might be a better leading character than Morbius.
Constructing a moveset for El Muerto is going to be very easy as he will be the one and only wrestler on the roster! I just need to take a bunch of wrestling moves people would know, have them hit multiple enemies, and call it a day! I’m not going to pretend I’m putting a lot of effort into El Muerto, he’s El Muerto!!
For El Muerto’s first heavy combo he’ll turn around and kick enemies into the air like a horse.

As a second heavy combo El Muerto will run forward and grab an enemy before proceeding to slam the down on their back, damaging them and creating a small shockwave to hurt nearby enemies.
El Muerto’s third heavy combo will have him run forward to grab an enemy, if he succeeds he will throw them into the air, grab them by their feet, and begin to swing them around in a circle at other enemies before finishing things off by throwing them.
The fourth heavy combo of El Muerto’s moveset will have him tackle forward at enemies, if he manages to grab one he will briefly roll around to continue crushing enemies.
Finally, for his fifth heavy combo El Muerto will grab an enemy and knock them to the ground before holding their limbs. Causing heavy damage to this enemy while also creating a small shockwave to harm other nearby enemies.
When activating El Muerto’s musou attack he’ll run forward and grab an enemy before jumping into the air and suplexing them, heavily damaging this enemy while also causing a shockwave to harm nearby enemies.
For El Muerto’s attack skills I’m going to analyze any panel he appears in in an attempt to squeeze out literally anything this guy who only appeared in two issues ever can do!
As a first attack skill we’ll have El Muerto pull a desk out of nowhere and begin to charge forward at enemies, knocking away anyone in his path.
The second attack skill of El Muerto’s moveset will see him run forward at enemies and deliver a brutal punch.
Finally, for his third attack skill El Muerto will grab a chair from nowhere and chuck it forward at enemies.
El Muerto is 100% going to appear in comics again soon now that he’s getting a movie and it will be a glorious day. Now while these villains I’m adding are all good, you can’t put any of them on the box art of the game as the foe Spider-Man will be fighting. So let’s finish this roster off with the character who I would cast as the villain in a second Spider-Man Musou game.
Character 11: Goblin King (Phil Urich)

Yes, the character I would want to be the main antagonist of a second Spider-Man Musou game would be the Goblin King and his Goblin Nation. However, I wouldn’t want this Goblin King to be Norman Osborn as I would already be introducing a second Norman Osborn in this second game. No, we would use the second person to use the Goblin King name: Phil Urich!
Phil Urich has had a tragic history as a comic character. He started out as a hero but over the years has not only been made a villain but is frequently just used as a minion to other villains such as the original Hobgoblin or Norman Osborn. I may be against him being a villain but if you’re going to make him one at least let him shine!
And shine is what we would do for him here, because the Goblin King is one of few Spider-Man villains to actually command an army making him a main antagonist for a sequel game just makes sense.
Gameplay wise the Goblin King has no shortage of options we can give him. I imagine him using his sword constantly for his light attacks while his heavy combos will be a basic Musou sword moveset where the sword happens to be on fire.
For his first heavy combo the Goblin King will perform a few vertical slashes with his sword, damaging enemies and he sends them flying.
Then as a second heavy combo the Goblin King will slice his sword horizontally in two directions twice to damage and knock away nearby enemies.
The Goblin King’s third heavy combo will have him jump into the air and slam his sword into the ground, causing a brief explosion of flame to burn surrounding enemies.
As his fourth heavy combo the Goblin King will stab his sword forward into enemies and if he happens to skewer them he will then shake them off and into other enemies.
Finally, for his fifth attack skill the Goblin King will grab an enemy and make a slice at their neck before tossing them back into the crowd, laughing maniacally.
The Goblin King’s musou attack will have him use Phil Urich’s specialty: the Lunatic Laugh! When activating the attack Phil will begin to laugh maniacally at enemies all around him as the soundwaves from the laugh do massive damage to anyone that hears it.
For his attack skills we’re going to explicitly reference the time when Phil Urich was a heroic version of the Green Goblin and give him some tools associated with the big GG himself.
The Goblin King’s first attack skill will have him toss out several pumpkin bombs in a wide radius around him, blowing up surrounding foes.
As a second attack skill the Goblin King will raise his fingers up and begin to shoot lasers from his electrified Goblin gloves at enemies in front of him.
Finally, Goblin King’s third attack skill will have him summon members of the Goblin Nation, who will then charge forward and rapidly attack enemies before vanishing.
And that was the Goblin King, folks! I absolutely detest that Phil Urich is forever going to be a bad guy in comics but I ain’t gonna complain about that in length in an article about a hypothetical Musou roster! Now that we’re done creating our second roster allow me to transition you further down my insanity.
Intermission 2
And there you go, folks! Not only have I constructed a Spider-Man Musou roster for you, but I even outlined who should be added in the sequel and made an argument for who should be the villain of it! So, are we done?
Not by a long shot! Sure, we may have every extremely well known Spider-Man villain on the roster now but I read 4,000+ comics! I am not going to settle for just making movesets for the well known characters! Let’s go for a third roster!
For this third roster roster we’re going to focus on being “Superior” and that means two things when talking about Spider-Man. Doctor Octopus as Spider-Man and the Superior Foes of Spider-Man. So let’s do a roster about these D-List villains and this A-list hero!
Spider-Man Musou 3: The Superior Spider-Musou
Character 1: Superior Spider-Man

Up first for our third game we’ve got the Superior Spider-Man himself! Doctor Otto Octavius stole Peter Parker’s body and took his place as Spider-Man for a long time and then even after Peter got his body back Otto was able to stay as the Superior Spider-Man for a while via the use of a clone body.
Unlike some of our earlier Spider-People like Spider-Man 2099, making a moveset for the Superior Spider-Man will be very easy as there is a Spider-Man gimmick I’ve been saving just for him: The Iron Spider legs!
Yes, just like Otto himself we’re going to take advantage of these four metallic legs when constructing the Superior Spider-Man’s moveset. While his light attacks will once again be some basic punches and kicks his heavy combos will use these legs in various ways to devastate the health of enemies
As a first heavy combo the Superior Spider-Man will stab upward with his Iron Spider arms to knock enemies into the air and then continue stabbing to juggle them briefly.
For his second attack skill the Superior Spider-Man will use his Iron Spider legs to launch himself up into the air and perform a flying kick at enemies.
Then as a third heavy combo, the Superior Spider-Man’s Iron Spider legs will spin in a circle around him, slashing away at enemies.
The fourth heavy combo of the Superior Spider-Man’s moveset will have him stab forward at enemies with his Iron Spider arms.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo the Superior Spider-Man will jump over enemies before stabbing his legs backwards at them.
The Superior Spider-Man’s Musou attack will have him summon an army of Arachnaughts and Spiderlings to march forward and shoot at enemies, clearing his path before vanishing.
For his first attack skill the Superior Spider-Man will summon several spider-drones which will fire electric shots at enemies before vanishing.
As a second heavy combo the Superior Spider-Man will toss forward a small explosive to burn enemies in front of him.
The final attack skill we’ll give the Superior Spider-Man some electrified webs which he’ll fire forward at enemies, electrocuting them.
And that was our moveset for the Superior Spider-Man! He was a lot easier to write than some of the other Spider-People in this roster because we gave him the Iron Spider gimmick. He’s also going to be the only hero we would be adding in this second game, so let’s get into some Superior villains!
Character 2: Boomerang

Up next we’ve got the leader of the Superior Foes of Spider-Man and roommate of Peter Parker: Boomerang! While he has only become an extremely and intentionally funny character in recent years this guy’s entire existence has been funny.
Because of how much Nick Spencer was constantly pushing Boomerang during any book he was writing I was tempted to put Boomerang with our first 18 characters but in the end I just couldn’t justify it to myself. Putting him down here with the other Superior Foes though? Yeah, that would make sense to do.
You’ll never guess what we’re going to do for Boomerang’s moveset. That’s right, we’re going to have him throw boomerangs! For his light attacks we’ll have him smack enemies around with two large boomerangs while his heavy combos will have him throw boomerangs around in various ways.
As his first heavy combo, Boomerang will throw a single boomerang forward in an upward trajectory, this boomerang will hit enemies and send them flying into the air as it constantly spins, carving through their health.
For his second heavy combo Boomerang will throw two boomerangs in front of him in two different directions that will come back to him in an arc that will hit enemies at his sides.
Then as a third heavy combo Boomerang will toss out three boomerangs that will spin around him in a circle briefly to slash through enemies.
The fourth heavy combo of Boomerang’s moveset will have him rapidly throw four boomerangs forward at enemies, blowing them away.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Boomerang will throw five entire boomerangs in a horizontal arc in front of him, heavily damaging any enemies they hit.
Boomerang’s Musou attack will have him begin to panic because there’s still enemies around, causing him to throw out a constant stream of boomerangs in front of him for several seconds, hoping the threat goes away.
Shockingly enough we’re going to center Boomerang’s attack skills around a gimmick that isn’t boomerangs! No, instead we’re going to have Boomerang be assisted by his newfound pet and recurring Spider-Man villain Gog!
For his first attack skill Boomerang will pull out and throw Gog forward at enemies like a football as Gog proceeds to scratch their faces.
Then as a second attack skill Gog will fall out of Boomerang’s pocket and begin to run around him in circles, attacking enemies in his way before hopping back into Boomerang’s pocket.
Finally, for Boomerang’s third attack skill Gog will grow into his giant monster form and begin to attack enemies all around Boomerang before quickly shrinking back into his cute pet form.
Boomerang going from an unintentionally funny villain to one of the greatest intentionally funny ones is a story for the ages and I cannot wait for the day more mainstream people know about him. Now let’s move on to our next villain!
Character 3: The Beetle

Next up on the list we’ve got another member of the Superior Foes and later founder of the second Sinister Syndicate: The Beetle! Like I said, I wanted to put the Superior Foes on this roster but putting in the Beetle also gives us room for another team we’ve completely ignored until now; the all female Sinister Syndicate from Nick Spencer’s Spider-Man run. So for the next chunk of this roster I’ll keep flipping between the Superior Foes and the Syndicate.
Anyway, the Beetle! She rocks but I really wish she would do more in the few action scenes she is in. We’re going to have to really stretch the little source material we have to craft a moveset for her. For her light attacks we’ll have her continuously kick at enemies while her heavy combos will involve flying and shooting lasers from her gloves.
As a first heavy combo the Beetle will fire laser shots in front of her at the feet of enemies, knocking anyone she shoots up into the air.
Then as a second heavy combo Beetle will fire laser shots in two separate directions to blast enemies.
Beetle’s third heavy combo will have her do a quick circular twirl as she fires, hitting surrounding enemies.
For her fourth heavy combo Beetle will begin to fly in a straight line, firing shots at enemies below her as she does
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo the Beetle will charge up a laser shot before firing it into a crowd of enemies, exploding on contact.
When activating the Beetle’s musou several unmarked cars will drive up to the battlefield as gangsters begin to unload bullets on enemies, courtesy of Beetle’s father Tombstone.
Speaking of Beetle’s father, he’s going to be the focus of all her attack skills. When activating her first attack skill Tombstone will appear out of nowhere and charge forward at enemies, punching everyone out of his path
As a second heavy comb Tombstone will appear with a tommy gun in hand and begin to fire at enemies in a horizontal arc.
Finally, for her third attack skill Beetle will call Tombstone again as he appears with a pitchfork in hand to stab at enemies too close to his daughter.
Beetle was one of the final characters I finished making a moveset for so forgive me if she doesn’t seem particularly fun to play, I made a LOT of movesets here! Our next character was also pretty hard to think up but I think he came together better in the end.
Character 4: Hydro-Man

Up fifth on the roster we’ve got a character who although he wasn’t in the Superior Foes he was a major character in their book. In addition, Hydro Man is one of Spider-Man’s oldest villains (having been around since the 70s) so while putting him on a basic Spider-Man Musou is a bit of a stretch because he isn’t super popular, he would need to eventually pop up as you continue to make sequels.
Moveset wise figuring out how he would play is very easy. He basically has the same gimmick as the Sandman but with water instead of sand. For his light attacks we’ll have Hydro Man swing his large water arms around at enemies while his heavy combos will have him slam water down on enemies!
For his first heavy combo Hydro-Man will stick his arms into the ground and create a pillar of water in front of him that will knock enemies into the air.
Hydro-Man’s second heavy combo will have him point swing his arms downward on enemies, with his arms growing in length during the downward swing.
Then as a third heavy combo Hydro-Man will extend his arms and spin around in a circle, slapping around enemies all around him.
As a fourth heavy combo Hydro-Man will put his arms together and begin to blast forward at enemies like a fire hose.
Hydro-Man’s fifth heavy combo will once again have him stretch his arms toward enemies in front of him, but this time he’ll hold them their as enemies lose health due to not being able to breath before releasing them.
When activating Hydro-Man’s musou attack he’ll briefly transform into an entire ocean of water and begin to drown nearby enemies before reverting to normal.
For his first attack skill Hydro-Man will stick his arms into the ground and cause several water pillars to burst in a circle around him.
Hydro-Man’s second attack skill will have him wind up a huge punch of water and unleash it on enemies in front of him.
Finally, as a third attack skill Hydro-Man will transform into a large ball of water and roll forward into enemies.
We just had a stretch of several hard movesets to think up in a row, I don’t know how I ended up doing that to myself so let’s just move on to one of the EASIEST characters to make a moveset for!
Character 5: White Rabbit

Up fifth on the roster we’ve got another member of the Sinister Syndicate: The White Rabbit! However, referring to her as that may be doing White Rabbit a complete disservice. While Spider-Man fans will very very rarely mention her, the White Rabbit is constantly popping up in Spider-Man books. I dare say that there hasn’t been a single Spider-Man run ever since her debut that doesn’t have her appear at least once, even if she is rarely the focus of an issue.
Now that I have gotten you to think about how often White Rabbit appears, let’s talk about her moveset! For her light attacks we’ll have White Rabbit wack enemies around with her umbrella while her heavy combos will have her either use her umbrella in specific ways or use other Alice in Wonderland themed attacks.
The first heavy combo of the White Rabbit’s moveset will have her pull out a flamingo glove club and swing it upward, knocking enemies into the air.
For her second heavy combo the White Rabbit will point her umbrella forward and begin to shoot fire from it like a flame throwing, burning enemies in a horizontal arc in front of her before stopping.
Then as a third heavy combo the White Rabbit will jump into the air like a…rabbit and throw exploding playing cards in a circle around her at enemies.
As a fourth heavy combo, the White Rabbit will point her umbrella forward like a rifle and fire a bullet into a crowd of enemies, damaging them.
The fifth and final combo of the White Rabbit’s moveset will have her pull out a golden stopwatch and begin swinging it at enemies like a pair of nunchaku before switching back to the umbrella.
For her Musou attack White Rabbit will summon a big White Rabbit mech to stomp on enemies all around her. Yes, this is an actual thing she has.
I have no specific gimmick in mind for the White Rabbit’s attack skills, they’re just going to be various things that she has been seen doing in comics over the years that I couldn’t include in her main moveset. Such as her first attack skill which will have him begin to jump around on the heads of enemies with super powered boots.
As a second attack skill the White Rabbit will pull out several carrots with their tips sharpened like knives and throw them at enemies.
Finally, for her third attack skill the White Rabbit will toss out a basket of eggs that will explode as they make contact with enemies.
The White Rabbit was an absolute joy to make a moveset for, but as I was writing a thought came to mind. Is it possible for the White Rabbit to end up in the MCU? Like I said she has appeared at least once per run but she has been appearing near constantly in recent years both in Amazing Spider-Man and in stuff like the Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comics. In addition she has been given a consistent redesign of pants in recent years. I smell a conspiracy brewing but this is no place to speculate on that. Let’s just move on to our next character.
Character 6: Rocket Racer

Speaking of characters who show up much more often than you’d think, we’ve got Rocket Racer! Rocket Racer used to be so cool. He started off as a pretty silly villain but very quickly became a friend and ally to Peter who would pretty frequently show up to help him.
Unfortunately for Rocket Racer one of the few issues he was a villain in was the issue that had Big Wheel in it so now he is forever doomed to be a joke villain by association.
Like his name suggests, Rocket Racer needs to be one of the fastest characters in our entire roster! He should be constantly zooming around as he attacks enemies. So, our Rocket Racer should be zapping enemies with his finger lasers for his light attacks while his heavy combos will involve him racing around on his board to run over enemies.
For his first heavy combo Rocket Racer will put a hand on the ground to stop his board before swinging it upward vertically, knocking himself and enemies into the air where he will be able to continue comboing them.
Then as a second heavy combo Rocket Racer will point his fingers to his first left and right while racing forward, firing lasers in two different directions.
As a third heavy combo Rocket Racer ride his board around in a circle, crushing enemies as he runs them over.
Rocket Racer’s fourth heavy combo will of course have him charge headfirst into a crowd of enemies at max speed, knocking them all away like bowling pins.
Finally, for his third heavy combo Rocket Racer will jump up high while racing forward before landing his board on top of enemies, crushing them.
Rocket Racer’s musou attack will have him begin to rapidly race around in all directions for a few seconds until he becomes nothing but a blur to the human eye, running over all surrounding enemies repeatedly until he returns to normal speed after the attack.
For his attack skills I have no choice but to play into Rocket Racer’s status as a joke villain because it would be very difficult to come up with three more attacks that involve a hoverboard. So instead we should have him summon other Spider-Man joke villains to assist him!
The first attack skill of Rocket Racer’s moveset will have him call upon the Hypno Hustler for assistance. Enemies around the Hypno Hustler will be forced to dance and repeatedly take damage until he vanishes.
For his second attack skill the Rocket Racer will be assisted by Screwball, who will parkour over enemies and kick them close to the Rocket Racer so he can attack them
Finally, as a third attack skill the Rocker Racer will call upon everyone’s favorite joke: The Wall! The wall will run by and flop onto a crowd of enemies, dealing heavy damage as he crushes them!
I didn’t want to make Rocket Racer a joke but also this is easily the best time to include fanservice villains like the Hypno Hustler plus it’s very hard to think up 9 attacks involving a hoverboard so you gotta play the deck you are given I suppose. Let’s move on to our next member of the Syndicate now.
Character 7: Trapstr

Next up on the roster we’ve got another member of the Syndicate: The Trapstr. Now you may be asking yourself, why would I put the Trapstr on the roster when I could instead be using the much more famous Paste Pot Pete. The reason for that is simple; Paste Pot Pete is an everyone villain. You can’t just tie him down to Spider-Man, that guy is an Avengers level threat! Trapstr on the other hand is another villain with a glue gun gimmick we can use that is relegated to only fighting Peter and Miles
Being a very recent villain with a very simple gimmick and not many appearances we’re also going to construct a very simple moveset for Trapstr. For both her light attacks and heavy combos she’ll be firing her paste gun at enemies.
The first heavy combo of the Trapstr’s moveset will have her run up to enemies and get on her knees before firing her gun at an upward angle, launching enemies into the air with her paste.
Then as a second heavy combo the Trapstr will jump into the air and begin to fire paste beneath her, damaging enemies that were too close to her as the paste goes everywhere.
For her third heavy combo the Trapstr will spin in a circle while firing her gun, damaging enemies all around her with her paste.
As a third heavy combo the Trapstr will begin to run forward while rapidly firing shots from her paste gun at enemies.
Trapstr’s fifth and final heavy combo will see her run up to a single enemy and unleash a large blast of paste at them. Heavily damaging them and briefly sticking them to the ground.
When activating the Trapstr’s musou attack she will begin to type something in her phone before a large explosion of paste happens all around her. Not only would this damage enemies, but it would also stick them in place briefly.
Being the member of the Syndicate who has had the least appearances and thus less source material to work with, I’m going to have Trapstr call upon other members of the Syndicate to help her fight. Such as for her first attack skill where she’ll text Scorpia to come help her as Scorpia stabs forward at enemies with her scorpion tail.
For her second attack skill the Trapstr will call upon Lady Octopus for help as Lady Octopus drops from the sky and begins to swipe away at enemies with her tentacles.
Finally, As a third attack skill Trapstr will ask Anastasia Kravinov for help as Anastasia attacks enemies with a spear similar to Kraven’s.
Go on, comment that I should have used Paste Pot Pete instead. You have already read tens of thousands of words typed by me. I should need to read like ten words typed by you. You’ve earned it! Now let’s move on to our next villain.
Character 8: Black Fox

Up next we’ve got a villain that you all love: the Black Fox! When it comes to recurring Spider-Man villains who are intentionally funny, you don’t get much better than the Black Fox, he’s hilarious.
And I think comedy is really what we need to hit when making a moveset for him. His running animations should be big hilarious steps and his attacks should have him constantly be failing upwards. While his light attacks will have him swing a big bag of money he’s stolen at enemies his heavy combos will be things such as tripping or dropping priceless jewels on the heads on enemies
The first heavy combo of Black Fox’s moveset will have him accidentally drop some stolen diamonds on the ground in front of him, causing any enemies that step on the sharp rocks to jump into the air in pain.
As a second heavy combo the Black Fox will pull out a copyright free Wii Remote and Nunchuck lookalike and begin to swing them around, hitting enemies near him.
Black Fox’s third heavy combo will have him drop a gold coin from his bag and while his tries to pick it up he’ll accidentally spin his whole back around him, smacking surrounding enemies in the face
For his fourth heavy combo the Black Fox will pull out an expensive looking vase before accidentally tripping forward and dropping it on enemies, damaging them as the glass shatters.
Then as a final heavy combo Black Fox will sneeze really hard and jump, causing his bag to fly over his head and smack enemies directly in front of him really hard.
When activating Black Fox’s musou attack he will point to the sky in fear and run away backwards as a helicopter crashes from the sky. Black Fox will luckily have escaped harm, but the enemies will not have.
Black Fox’s attack skills will have him be manipulated by a familiar outside force to attack enemies in specific ways. For his first attack skill the Spider Signal will shine down on Black Fox and in fear he’ll run straight forward, smacking enemies out of his way.
As a second attack skill when the Spider Signal shines down on him Black Fox will instead run around in circles out of fear, knocking away enemies.
Finally, for his third attack skill Black Fox will pretend to surrender when the Spider Signal shines on him, tossing various treasures at the heads of enemies around him as he tries to look innocent.
I 100% should have just cut Black Fox from this roster as he began to give me trouble but I just couldn’t bear with the idea of taking this funny little man off and powered through it instead. I’m quite proud of the result though.
Enough joke villains though. We have only one slot remaining on this roster so who should be the big main antagonist of our third Spider-Man Musou game? I think you all know the answer.
Character 9: Norman Osbron (Carnage)

Yes, I would want another Goblin to be the villain of our third Spider-Man Musou game. It’s not my fault Norman just naturally has final boss energy. Things would be different this time though, imagine a video game ending on a story that’s a combination of the finale of Superior Spider-Man, Maximum Carnage, and the Norman Osborn Carnage story. It would be awesome. Plus, the Maximum Carnage aspect would be a good excuse for a Musou game to have a ton of enemies as early Carnage’s thing was convincing the people of New York to riot and become pro-murder.
Anyway, Norman Osborn Carnage’s moveset would be a deadly combination of Venom’s and the Green Goblin’s movesets from earlier. While his light will be swiping at enemies with tentacles made of the Carnage symbiote his heavy combos will be familiar attacks from the Venom and Goblin movesets but made more deadly.
As a first heavy combo Carnage will toss some symbiote pumpkin bombs on the ground to blow enemies into the air before stabbing at them by extending his long, red fingers.
Then as a second heavy combo Carnage will have his arm as several sharp red spikes made of his symbiote fly forward at enemies, stabbing them.
Carnage’s third heavy combo will have him throw out a bunch of Carnage-infused pumpkin bombs that will home in and bite enemies before exploding.
For his fourth heavy combo Carnage will stab forward at enemies with the large pointed tail that Osborn-Carnage has.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Carnage will transform his arm into as sharp spear and stab forward at enemies for massive damage.
When activating Carnage’s musou attack Norman Osborn will scream and begin to throw out dozens of pumpkin bombs in all directions in an attempt to kill everyone.
Carnage’s first attack skill will have it jump into the air as the Carnage version of the Goblin Glider flies by into enemies.
As a second attack skill Carnage will summon the Goblin Childe out of nowhere to slash at nearby enemies.
Finally, for a third attack skill Carnage will jump toward an enemy and begin to shock them to death with his electrified Goblin Glove. He may have a symbiote but underneath he’s still got all his Goblin toys.
And that was our moveset for Carnage! I cannot believe you have stuck around for three entire rosters of Spider-Man characters written up by me, care to stick around for one more?
Intermission 3
I can totally end things here, this has already completely eclipsed my previously largest Musou (My Pokemon Musou article), but I like all of you so because of that let’s go for one final roster! For this fourth roster let’s cover an idea that Marvel has been aggressively pushing for the last decade: Spider-Verse! For this final roster I’ll be adding on movesets for characters explicitly not from the 616 universe like Spider-Gwen earlier in the roster. With all of that out of the way, let’s finish this thing off!
Spider-Man Musou 4: Spider-Verse
Like the others I am crafting this roster under the assumption that all characters from the previous ones would be returning.
I would also like to address the elephant in the room: the Spider-Verse movie. The expected approach would be to add all three of the other alternative universe Spider-People from the movie other than Spider-Gwen, but that approach sadly has two major flaws. The flaw keeping me from making a moveset for Peni Parker is that there is next to no source material to pull from for Peni, so I’m opting not to use her. The flaw keeping me from putting Spider-Ham on the roster is that I’ve grown to hate him and refuse to write about him!
There is one Spider-Person from the movie who I would put on the roster though;
Character 1: Spider-Man Noir

Up first in our Spider-Verse Musou is the ever popular and currently evil (at the time of writing) Spider-Man Noir! Spider-Man Noir has always been one of the most popular alternative universe Spider-Men, having been popular enough to start appearing in video games only a year after his debut and is now in a mainstream movie.
When thinking up the moveset for Spider-Man Noir there is just one major issue we need to handle: his gun. I don’t like the idea of any Spider-Man using a gun and even Marvel seems to go back and forth on whether or not he uses one. In order to meet the best of both worlds for our roster he would be using a gun that shoots out webs. Similar to Agent Venom, for his light attacks he’ll shoot web-bullets directly in front of him while his heavy combos will either have him shoot in a specific way, or use his webs to entrap enemies before taking them out with some brutal punches!
Spider-Man Noir’s first heavy combo will have him uppercut enemies into the air before firing several shots from his gun at them.
As a second heavy combo Spider-Man Noir will pull out a second gun and fire them both in different directions before putting the second gun away.
Then as a second heavy combo Spider-Man Noir will spin around in a circle while firing shots at enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo Spider-Man Noir will shoot a web forward at enemies before pulling them in close and clobbering them with his fists.
As a fifth heavy combo Spider-Man Noir will run directly up to a crowd of enemies and begin to unload shots from his gun right into their faces.
When activating Spider-Man Noir’s musou attack the screen will begin to go gray as jazz music begins and Noir fire his gun repeatedly in all directions, incapacitating foes as the color begins to return to normal.
For Spider-Man Noir’s and the other Spider-People in this section of the article’s attack skills we’ll have them call upon the assistance of alternative universe Spider-People who do exist but would never get into a video game as anything other than an assist. Such as for Spider-Man Noir’s first attack skill where we’ll have Spider-Ham appear and begin smacking enemies with a large mallet.
Noir’s second attack skill will have him be assisted by Spider-Monkey, who will begin to jump around, damaging any enemies he lands on.
Finally, for his third attack skill Spider-Man Noir will be assisted by woodsman Spider-Man from the first issue of Spider-Man Fairy Tales, who will begin to chop at nearby enemies with his ax.
Oh my gosh what was I thinking? I came up with this idea and immediately realized how hard it would be to make up five more Spider-Person themed movesets. Lord help me as well continue.
Character 2: Cindy-65

Our first villain for our Spider-Verse Musou is one that Spider-Gwen and Silk are very familiar with: The Earth-65 version of Cindy Moon! In this universe Cindy was never bit by the radioactive spider that gave her her powers and instead became a super villain that I would describe as Spider-Gwen’s Norman Osborn.
I was at first hesitant to put Cindy-65 on this roster as my Spider-Gwen villain pick but the thing is Spider-Gwen’s major villains are Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, and Cindy-65. I don’t want to only have an evil version of Daredevil and the Punisher on this roster so Cindy-65 is the only real choice.
Despite being the only choice though, Cindy-65 has a villain gimmick that works very well for our roster! Her gimmick is that she uses a piece of stolen tech called the Power Glove to mimic the powers of other villains so when constructing a moveset for her we can have her light attack be simple punches and kicks while her heavy combos will have her unleash someone else’s power!
As a first heavy combo Cindy-65 will enter Scorpion Mode and have a recreation of the Scorpion’s tail appear and stab upward at enemies three times, sending them into the air and damaging them before the tail disappears.
For her second heavy combo, Cindy-65 will activate Blizard Mode as her legs become surrounded with ice and she performs a roundhouse kick on enemies near her, shattering both the ice and the health of enemies.
The third heavy combo of Cindy-65’s moveset will have her use a recreation of Paste Pot Pete’s gun to shoot paste at enemies all around her.
Cindy-65’s fourth heavy combo will have her transform into Rhino mode and charge forward into enemies in a solid light recreation of the Rhino suit, squashing foes in her path before returning to normal.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo Cindy-65 will go into Human Torch (Android, not FF4 member) mode and throw a large fireball forward at enemies that will explode and deal heavy damage.
Cindy-65’s Musou attack will have her enter the all powerful Doom-Bot mode as two blue rings appear around her wrists and she begins to perform a rapid combo of attack on all nearby enemies before turning back to normal.
Just like her normal moveset and musou attacks we’re going to have Cindy-65 use a variety of other people’s powers for her attack skills. Such as her first attack skill which will have her enter Doctor Octopus mode and stomp on nearby enemies with a replica of his arms before returning to the ground.
Cindy-65’s second attack skill will have her enter Captain America mode as a large shield made of solid light appears in front of her as she slowly walks forward, knocking away enemies the enemy touches.
Finally, for her third attack skill Cindy-65 will enter Iron Man Mode as replicas of Iron Man’s repulsor gloves appear on her arms and she begins to blast away at enemies.
And with that we’re done with Cindy-65’s moveset! Absolutely love this character and recommend that you all read Spider-Women. Now that we’ve added 1 Spider-Hero and 1 villain, let’s continue to even things out by adding another hero!
Cindy-65 was actually the second moveset in this entire article I finished right after I did Peter Parker as a test. She was just super easy to get a handle on because of her gimmick. Unlike our next character who doesn’t have a gimmick at all!
Character 3: Spider-Man India

Up third on the roster we’ve got one of my personal favorite alternate Spider-Men: Spider-Man India! Spider-Man India’s series from the early 2000s has some of the best art I have ever seen in a comic and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the main reason comic fans remember him nowadays.
Unfortunately for us, making a moveset out of this guy is going to be pretty difficult as there isn’t much to separate him from mainline Peter Parker power wise. My solution to this is to focus his heavy combos on martial arts kicks and collateral damage such as pulling walls down. It’s not much but it’s the best I could think of.
For his first heavy combo Spider-Man India will web the ground in front of him and pull hard, pulling out some rubble the will blast enemies into the air.
Spider-Man India’s second heavy combo will have him fire web lines offscreen before pulling in two street lamps to slam together on enemies near him.
Then as a third heavy combo Spider-Man India will use his webs to pull in a mailbox from off screen and begin to spin it around him, smacking all surrounding enemies.
The fourth heavy combo of Spider-Man India’s moveset will see a wall appear in front of him that he will pull down on to enemies to squish them.
Finally, for his fifth heavy combo Spider-Man India will launch a web offscreen and pull in a car that he’ll slam onto enemies.
When activating Spider-Man India’s musou attack he will fire a web into the air somewhere offscreen before pulling hard, causing a brick wall to appear from nowhere and land on enemies.
As a first attack skill Spider-Man India will call upon the assistance of the Six-Armed Spider-Man. Six-Armed Spider-Man will grab at several enemies with his hands and spin them around in a circle before tossing them away and vanishing.
For his second attack skill Spider-Man India will call knight Spider-Man from Spider-Man Fairy Tales for assistance. Knight Spider-Man will charge forward at enemies with his sword before vanishing.
The third and final attack skill of Spider-Man India’s moveset will have him call upon Aaron Aikman in his Spider-Man armor to blast at enemies with projectiles.
Spider-Man India made it onto this roster entirely because I like him, I have no idea how I even finished his moveset, it was honestly a miracle. Our next character is also someone who is on the roster entirely because I love them.
Character 4: Sophia “Chat” Sanduval

Next up on the roster I’ve put a character who is neither a Spider-Person nor a Spider-Man villain: Chat! Chat is a character from the Marvel Adventures Spider-Man series. In that universe there is no Mary Jane and instead Peter’s main love interest is Chat, a mutant with the power to talk to animals.
I absolutely love Chat and you all should read the comics she appears in, her relationship with Peter is legitimately my favorite Spider-Man romance.
But today we’re here to talk about how characters would play on a video game, so how would we make a moveset for Chat? By having her animal friends assist her in battle of course! Chat herself will never attack when playing as her, instead she will have her animal friends attack enemies for her as she walks around the battlefield. For her light attacks her pet owl Flappy will attack enemies while her heavy combos will have her call upon other animals out of nowhere.
As a first heavy combo Chat will call upon a pack of birds to swoop in on enemies in front of her, carrying foes into the air and dropping them on the ground.
Chat’s second attack skill will have two dogs come to her assistance by jumping in two different directions to bite at enemies.
For her third heavy combo a bunch of snakes will begin to slither out of the ground around Chat. As the snakes slither in a large circle they’ll bite at enemies surrounding her.
Chat’s fourth heavy combo will have her whistle as a pack of horses appear and begin to charge forward at enemies.
Finally, as a fifth heavy combo a large chicken will come at assist Chat by running forward, jumping into the air, and repeatedly stomping on the faces of enemies.
Chat’s Musou attack will have her summon a large flock of various animals that will begin to attack enemies all around her before vanishing.
For her first attack skill Char will whistle and summon a pack of moose to charge forward at enemies.
As a second attack skill Chat will clap her hands as several lobsters rain from the sky around her onto enemies.
Chat’s third attack skill will have her summon a turtle who will spin around her and knock away enemies.
If you are racing to the comments to tell me Chat shouldn’t be on here well jokes on you, you’re the one who has already read over 20,000 words of movesets written by me! You’ve already stooped down to my level!
Character 5: Mayday Parker

When you’re adding alternate universe Spider-People to your story you cannot exclude Mayday Parker, daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane and star of the previously long running Spider-Girl series. I love Mayday and heavily recommend reading her series.
Thinking up a moveset for Mayday is going to be really difficult as there is even less separating her from Peter powers-wise than any other Spider-Person on this roster. As such I am going to try and stretch a gimmick out across a lot of attacks, that gimmick being jumping! Mayday jumps a lot during fights in her series, to the point where she is even called a jackrabbit once. She’s also the star of her school’s basketball team! As such while Mayday’s light attacks will be basic punches and kicks, her heavy combos will all have her jump around in various ways to attack enemies.
For her first heavy combo, Mayday will jump into the air and use her webs to grab enemies and pull them skyward with her before attacking them.
The second heavy combo of Mayday’s moveset will have her jump forward while firing webs to her left and right to damage enemies.
Mayday’s third heavy combo will have her jump into the air and begin to fire webs in all directions around her at enemies.
Then as a fourth heavy combo Mayday will jump forward while repeatedly firing webs at the ground, hitting enemies below her.
Mayday’s fifth heavy combo will have her jump into the wait before creating a webline downward to swing herself to the ground, kicking the faces of enemies on her way down.
When activating Mayday’s musou attack she’ll jump high up into the air and begin to shoot web balls in all directions, entangling enemies in web cocoons.
As a first attack skill we’ll have Peni Parker in her Sp//Dr appear to assist Mayday by blasting projectiles at enemies all around her
Mayday’s second attack skill will have her call Sakura Spider for help, they will both pull enemies close to them with their web lines before unleashing a brutal punch.
Finally, for her third attack skill Mayday will call upon Princess Spintress from the most recent Spider-Verse event, who will begin to sing and cause nearby enemies to dance so Mayday can attack them.
And with Mayday done we have only one more Spider-Person to put on the roster. That person was much easier to write than Mayday so I’m free of this curse I put upon myself. Now that we’re done with Mayday though, let’s add one of her villains!
Character 6: Black Tarantula

When it comes to villains that other Spider-People face, you often have very little choices to pick from. Most alternate universe Spider-Men just fight alternate versions of Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin. Mayday however is the exception, she had an entire rogues gallery of original villains we could pull from when selecting a villain for her in this roster.
I however, picked a villain who does have a version in the main 616 universe: the Black Tarantula. Let me justify myself though. Mayday’s version of the Black Tarantula is cooler than the main universe’s could ever hope to be. As her most recurring villain he was given a lot of depth and character development.
Gameplay wise he will be hard to think up a moveset for as he is primarily just a very strong and very fast guy, but we can figure something out. For his light attacks the Black Tarantula will use some normal punches while his heavy combos will involve some particularly hard punches and grabs.
Black Tarantula’s first heavy combo will have him uppercut enemies into the air before grabbing their legs and slamming them into the ground.
The second heavy combo of Black Tarantula’s moveset will have him slam his fists down on enemies near him.
For his third heavy combo the Black Tarantula will grab an enemy by their legs and begin to spin around with them, repeatedly hitting other enemies with their head.
As a fourth heavy combo the Black Tarantula will jump forward at enemies with his knee outstretched to damage them.
Then as a final heavy combo the Black Tarantula will charge forward while putting his fists together and slam an attack down on enemies.
Black Tarantula’s musou attack will have him begin to shoot a laser out of his eyes that will eat through the health of enemies before stopping. I originally considered giving him this attack for more of his moveset but the comics make a point of how he can’t use it much.
For his attack skills Black Tarantula will make use of this same lazer beam, but in different less damaging ways. Such as his first attack skill where we’ll have him fire a ricocheting version of the beam that will bounce off of enemies until eventually dissipating.
Then as a second attack skill Black Tarantula will fire an eye beam at the feet of enemies in front of him, sending them flying into the air.
Finally as a third attack skill Black Tarantula will fire his laser in a horizontal arc at enemies.
Black Tarantula is the kind of character where I probably could have written anything here and it would have sounded right. As the third to last moveset I finished in this entire article though he was okay to write about. Let us now move on to one of my favorite pick for this section of the article.
Character 7: Kwaku Anansi

We all have that one character who we absolutely love despite only being in a single issue ever. That character we all wish would come back in some form. Anansi the spider god is that for me. In the second issue of Spider-Man Fairy Tales Marvel delivered a retelling of the story of the Akan god of stories but with him being a version of Spider-Man. It is the only issue of Spider-Man Fairy Tales worth remembering but despite Anansi making background cameos in Spider-Verse he doesn’t get the honor of having speaking lines in those books.
When thinking about how he would play Anansi is actually one of the easier Spider-People to think up a moveset for because of how different he is from the typical Spider-Man depiction. For his light attacks we’ll have Anansi smack at enemies with his fists while his heavy combos will have him call upon his elemental spirit friends for assistance.
For his first heavy combo Anansi will be assisted by the spirit of wind, who will blow enemies into the air with several small tornadoes.
Anansi’s second heavy combo will have the spirit of water create a horizontal stream at his feet, washing away enemies and damaging them in the process.
Then as a third heavy combo the spirit of sand will create several sand walls around Anansi that will then go flying in various directions to damage enemies.
For his fourth heavy combo Anansi will be assisted by the spirit of fire, who will create several vertical flame pillars in front of Anansi to damage foes.
The fifth and final heavy combo of Anansi’s moveset will have him once again be assisted by the spirit of sand, who will proceed to take the form of a snake and ensnare enemies near Anansi before biting them for massive damage.
Anansi’s musou attack will of course have him be assisted by all four of his spirit friends, as they unleash attacks on all surrounding enemies Anansi will shoot out webs to make sure enemies remain in range.
While Anansi’s heavy combos all involved him being assisted by the spirits he had made friends with, his attack skills will have the trickster use the tools he had used to defeat those spirits in the first place against enemies.
Anansi’s first attack skill will have him pull out the pot he had used to capture the wind spirit and use it to suck in and spit out enemies in front of him.
For his second attack skill Anansi will pull out a broken piece of bamboo which he will then use to suck up surrounding sand and spit it at enemies around him.
Finally, as a third attack skill Anansi will take off his kilt and begin to twist it, splashing around a large amount of water left over from when he had trapped the water spirit in said kilt.
Okay now that you’ve watched me talk about Anansi for a few hundred words you are morally obligated to track down Spider-Man Fairy Tales issue #2 and read about him! It’s a very good issue! Now that we’re done with our final hero in the roster, let’s end this thing off with our two villains. And what would a Spider-Verse game be without…
Character 8: Morlun

Up eighth we’ve got the main antagonist of most Spider-Verse events: Morlun! Morlun is an antagonist who was really cool when he was first introduced but as time has moved on he has overstayed his welcome to the point where I’m tired of seeing him.
See, Morlun’s whole gimmick is that he is near indestructible. He will take his time hunting you down and will even walk slowly toward you like a horror movie villain. The problem is similar to how Spider-Man fighting the Juggernaut was amazing the first time it happened but the concept became increasingly lame as it kept happening over the years as it kept happening. Spider-Man has beaten Morlun so often that he no longer has any menace and unlike most Spider-Man villains there isn’t much to Morlun other than that.
When thinking up a roster for a Spider-Verse Musou though you can’t just leave Morlun out, he’s *the* Spider-Verse villain, so we need to think up a moveset for him. Morlun should be the slowest character in our roster by default, this man is not a speedy fighter. His light attacks should be really slow punches while his heavy combos will have him grabbing enemies to feast on them or throwing some particularly powerful punches
Morlun’s first heavy combo will have him grab enemies in front of him with both of his hands to drain the life out of them before tossing them into the air.
As a second heavy combo Morlun will slam both of his fists down on enemies, splitting them to the ground.
Then as a third heavy combo Morlun will grab at an enemy’s head before proceeding to spin them around in a circle, whacking nearby enemies with them before throwing the enemy away.
For his fourth heavy combo Morlun will extend the palm of his hand forward at enemies, damaging and knocking them back with his sheer strength.
The fifth and final heavy combo of Morlun’s moveset will have him slam an enemy onto the ground with his fists before proceeding to stomp on their head.
Morlun’s musou attack will have him kick a group of enemies into a pile on the ground before proceeding to repeatedly punch them so they stay down.
For his first attack skill Morlun will yell out “Inheritor Fist!” And punch down on enemies as his arm glows orange similar to when he killed Marvel vs Capcom Spider-Man.
Morlun’s second attack skill will have him knock enemies into the ground before pulling a jackhammer out of nowhere and using it on them like he did with Peter once
Finally as a third attack skill Morlun will simply walk to the nearest enemy and proceed to suck the life out of them. Draining their health as his increases slightly.
And that’s Morlun! Under any sane circumstances we could end this article here and call it a day. Morlun just makes sense as a final roster pick, but I have proven multiple times in this article that I am not sane! I would not want Morlun to be the villain of this hypothetical game so let’s add one more character!
Character 9: The Queen

That’s right, for our final character I’m going to use the antagonist of Spider Island: the Queen! Like I said in the previous transition, using Morlun as the antagonist of another Spider-Verse story would just be overplayed and non threatening due to how overplayed he is. Using a villain who commands an entire army of spiders though? That could work.
Speaking of commanding, that is exactly what we’ll have the queen to in her moveset! Her light attacks will have her punching and kicking enemies of course (she was in the marines after all), but her heavy combos will have her commanding around various Spider monsters to do her bidding and harm enemies.
For her first heavy combo the Queen will have several spider creatures burst from the ground in front of her, blasting enemies under them into the air.
Then as a second heavy combo the Queen will snap her fingers as two large spider monsters charge forward at enemies.
The third heavy combo of the Queen’s moveset will have her summon three large spiders to run around in a large circle around her, trampling enemies.
As a fourth heavy combo large spiders will drop from the sky in front of the Queen and begin to toss enemies toward her so she can attack them.
Finally, for her fifth heavy combo the Queen will summon a gigantic spider that will begin to chomp down on enemies in front of her for massive damage.
When activating the Queen’s musou attack she’ll briefly transform into her giant monster spider form and begin to terrorize all nearby enemies before returning to normal.
For her first attack skill we’ll have the Queen summon the mutant spider version of Captain America from Spider-Man Island to attack enemies in front of her.
As a second attack skill the Queen will unleash her Sonic Scream at enemies directly in front of her.
The third and final attack skill for the Queen, and final attack in this novel of an article, will have her spin in a circle while unleashing her Sonic Screaming, knocking away enemies all around her.
Conclusion
It’s over!! I can finally stop making movesets for Spider-Man characters! Like I stated before this project has taken several months of my life so if you enjoyed this article PLEASE share it around or even leave a comment telling me if I did well. My name is Skeith from the Story Arc and I thank you for reading this novel I am insisting is an article.
pog slay
Okay. This actually…isn’t AS bad as I thought it might be in terms of leaving only dumpster diving candidates not really worth DLC selection. But I was so proud of the alternate idea I came up with I’ll share that one too.
Strictly Canon Picks:
Spider-Ham
Daredevil
Human Torch
The Alternate Idea:
Kim Possible
Luz Noceda
Cornelius Fillmore
I like a lot of the selections here and I learned a bunch of new characters in the Spiderman lore. I also enjoy that there are threads of a story revolving around the picks in the later additions. The movesets are interesting and made mechanical sense for each character. Would not change how they work at all. Though they could be flavored a bit differently or the character performing the move would add some flair to how it’s performed to make them stand out more.
That said, roster tends to lean more towards the obscure side of characters. I’m mostly fine with them because of them having a reason to be there in the bigger story. However, the “this character is added because I like them” selections were pretty poor choices. You yourself shared that you had a difficult time with some of them (Puma, Spiderman India) so it makes them even worse choices. This makes them harder to justify especially when compared to notable omissions. Just using the header picture of this article, could have added Black Cat, Scorpion, Mr. Negative and Cletus Kassidy (Carnage). Other notable omissions are Jessica Drew’s Spiderwoman, Silver Sable. For Spider-verse characters, Japanese Spiderman (he has a literal mecha!) is appearing in the upcoming Spiderverse movies and could have been a very interesting addition. There’s even the possibility of adding in characters who are Spiderman allies/villains but commonly associated with other things like Deadpool, Daredevil, Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel, Wolverine, Kingpin, Bullseye, Elektra etc.
Thank you for reading! This is one of the best and most detailed comments I have gotten. I admit I was pretty stubborn on including Puma when I probably shouldn’t have because he is my favorite Spider-Man villain. Black Cat somehow slipped my mind entirely and while I did consider Mr. Negative I just couldn’t think of a way to make his power work.
As for other Marvel Heroes I decided against including them because one day I want to do another project like this but expand the scope from just Spider-Man to Mavrel Street Heroes in general. If I hadn’t made that decision though I probably would have tried writing movesets for Daredevil and Johnny Storm
